To educate myself for a personal issue I posted about (and to be able to explain it to others), I would love to hear any and all arguments people have against the use of condoms in marriage. I hear quite a bit about hormonal contraceptives, not so much about why condoms are wrong.

Thank you!

I take issue with them because they permit missuse of your partner and missuse of Gods bodily design. They also may warp the mind into falling into the pro-death society around us (whether knowingly or unknowningly).

Missuse of partner: When two are in the sexual act giving themselves fully and freely…they are living their wedding vows " I give myself totally to you and I love EVERYTHING about you …including your cycles/life giving nature/etc.

condoms stand in stark contrast…they say " I want to love you…but without sacrifice/responsibiliy " And I want to love you in parts and not your whole self… " I love how sex feels but I don’t love your cycles/life giving possibilities …as a matter of fact…they are a problem to me"

Missue of Gods bodily design:
Our bodies were made for procreation (their design supports it) and our bodies really teach us a lot about God and ourselves (everything in the physical world manifests much about the spiritual…because art always teaches about the artist). Contraception helps us live lies and fouls up God’s design. This can have direct consequences on marriage and on a person’s mental/spiritual and thereby even physical health. I highly recommend you take a look at “theology of the body” …AMAZING STUFF!

What have comdoms done to our society…they’ve allowed us men to use women, misuse Gods design and warp Gods vision of who we are and why we were made the way we are. They promote lust, the culture of death, promisquity, and so much more!

God bless and good luck to you!

They prevent the marital act from being both unitive and procreative. The procreative is pretty obvious. I think Michael did a fairly good job explaining how it interrupts the unitive aspect. One thing I’d add, though, is that no matter how good or how expensive they are, they just don’t feel natural. A good analogy is to shove a Ziploc bag in your mouth and then try to enjoy eating a steak.

I like the Ziploc bag analogy.

I have used a couple different methods of contraception (I’m now a practicing Catholic). I “liked” the condom the least. It literally interrupts everything. The sensation is not as good for either the man or the woman. You have to stop what you’re doing to put it on (or sometimes to go out and buy them). What’s morally wrong with it is similar - it prevents you from becoming one flesh. You can’t give yourself to your spouse. There is literally a barrier in your way.

I laugh anytime I see those ads for condoms that suggest that they will somehow “enhance” your experience. Even among people who are avid contraceptive users (and use condoms because they have multiple partners), they will say that they would rather not use them “if they didn’t have to.” The idea that they could just not sleep with someone new every month is apparently too ridiculous to fathom. 🤷

I’ve read somewhere that condom use can also affect a woman’s fertility signs, but I can’t find the source.

Also it is known that semen has chemicals in it that helps with emotional bonding which would be blocked by condom use.

Contraceptive use of any sort is sinful because it changes what the sexual encouter IS, and not in a good way. It cheapens it.

God made man and wife such that by it’s nature their union holds the potential to bring forth new life. When a couple intentionally blocks that aspect of human sexuality, but still expects the perks of pleasure and bonding, they unknowingly change the very nature of their encounter. Sexual union is a statement about the nature of the relationship. Contraception makes that statement a lie.
