Anyone catering to lust makes himself GOD’s enemy. Why does an athlete really do what he or she does? Why does a figure skater or ballerina or gymnist really do what (s)he does? It is not ever just a matter of sexually lust-free motives for such things just because there are other factors. Where there is compromise of Holiness, all else is eclipsed morally in importance.
There is an entirely different view of athletics and of modest dress today by most so-called “Christians” than that of all the early Church.
Are motor skills not just for accomplishing tasks? The fact that one can co-ordinate them into various games does not mean they exist for playing under the eye of a myriad, worshipping spectators. The whole idea of teams is never free of the competitive spirit of this world, which is not of GOD. Why is this? Where we are dealing with spiritual idleness, we find only a sensitivity to a different master than that of True Athletes for the Kingdom.
The sports world serves not LOVE HIMSELF, but Cupid. Besides wanting to be worshipped by the opposite sex in general, even the money usually is a polygamous dating cash-wad, and where ever it is spent, male sportsmen often exude a certain attitude that is lustful toward women, and not brotherly toward other men - in fact, the spirit of competition usually carries on into games with women.
There is the old philosophical maxim:
“Know what is before you.”
If a team has not the brotherly attitude that would have allowed Cain and Abel to live together for a lifetime in sight of Eden, then to help that team to win is to remove yourself from being the sort of Pillar the Apostles were, to be a support instead to the whole spirit of this world that loses Paradise by nature of its deficiency. In knowing what is before us, let us always ask:
“Is this any better a choice than that which forfeited Paradise to Adam’s race?”
I have never known a female that didn’t give undue visual attention to baseball players or football players they watched - partly due to the clothing. And why go where cheer-leaders are? The Apostles would never have had anything to do with anything at all done in an unholy way. Mary would not do public gymnastics - can you think why? Why should a husband sit beside his wife and oggle such a specimen? Some skills are suited only to the marriage bed. And why do even hockey players, whose uniforms are not like football players’, always get shown at least half naked in the locker room for their interviews? Disgusting!
I hardly know a dozen men in my every day life that are not oppurtunists according to some lustful angle.
I fail to see why athletics has so many vigorous proponents. As a True Athlete for the Kingdom of the HOLY TRINITY, one must strip off every thing contradictory to the utmost Sentiment of the KING.
