Hey all, I was invited by a good friend of mine to go to Armenia this summer. They are Armenian Apostolic and I am obviously Catholic 🙂 so I had 2 questions:

1: How do I find a Catholic Church in Armenia?? I have been having a hard time. We will be staying around Yerevan and Dilijan. On the chance I cannot find a Catholic Church, am I allowed to receive the Eucharist at the Armenian Apostolic Church with my friend?

2: Until recently I was unaware that there was an Armenin Catholic Church. How many Roman and Armenian Catholics are there in Armenian? I think it’s really neat!

I don’t think that it would fufill your Sunday obligation, at the Oriental Church.
I found this!
I really hope this helps!
The Armenian Christians are great people.

I had a good friend who is Armenian Apostolic when I was living in the States. He was from the “old country.” It was his impression that if you are rich, whether you are Catholic or Armenian Apostolic, you go to the Catholic Church; if you are poor, whether you are Catholic or Armenian Apostolic, you go to the Armenian Apostolic Church. Such informal intercommunion occurs regularly in the Middle East due to close family ties.

If there is no Catholic Church in the area, you are absolved of your Sunday obligation. You can receive at an Armenian Apostolic Church according to Catholic regulations for genuine spiritual benefit, but you need to present yourself to the pastor before Mass/Badarak to ask permission (according to both Catholic and Armenian Apostolic regulations). It depends on the locale and the pastor.

Blessings,
Marduk

From anohter thread:
If you are willing to ride 2 hours to Gyumri, there is an Armenian Catholic Church there. About 120 km from Yerevan. The Ordinariat for Armenian Catholics in Eastern Europe is based there, and there is a small seminary (since 1994).

Thank you for all the responses guys!

If I’m not able to travel that far out of Yerevan is there any Catholic parishes there?
