HOLY MYRO

Only made and blessed every seven years, Holy Myro has just begun to be made this September. Myro is made from olive oil and 40 fragrants. Only Katoikos of Etchmiadzin can make such Myro and bless it. It is then sent all over world for Armenian peoples to be annointed. Armenians believe that St Faddei brought holy oil to Armenia from Our Lord Jesus Christ. This Myro must be cooked for 40 days and then special blessing occurs which takes 3 days. Preparation has just begun. At time of blessing the holy objects of Armenian church: lance which speared side of Christ, hand of St. Faddei and wood of life-giving Cross are placed on altar along with the vessel containing holy Myro as in this picture from last blessing 2001 year

Excuse my ignorance, but does this regard the Armenian Apostolic Church (Oriental Orthodox) or the Armenian Catholic Church? And is the practice the same between the two?

I believe it is only the AAC because it is the Catholicos who presides. I witnessed this at the Etchmiadzin in '95. The Etchmiadzin is the location of the See of Armenia.

Well, this answers my question about whether all the Eastern Churches bless the Chrism (or myron; either word is correct) during Holy Week.

Obviously, the Armenians do not.
