Last night, I was sent this link about a schismatic and heretical group called the Army of Mary.
freerepublic.com/focus/f-religion/1902917/posts

Do these people actually worship Mary, along with their foundress, as this article implies? Just out of curiosity, does anyone have any other information about them? To me, they sound like a cult with a perhaps insane megalomaniac leader.

Just the fact they would think ANYBODY is the reincarnation of the Theotokos is bad enough.

On the other hand, just last night I was thinking about a couplet by the Anglican priest and poet George Herbert:

Ana-Mary/Army-gram

How well doth her name an ARMY represent
In whom the Lord of Host did pitch His tent.

This is the first I’ve heard of the group… It sounds like there were other issues at hand… The sisters in the article were described as very devout and faithful catholics… Until later in their years they took on this false, heretical doctrine. It is very sad:( I wonder if perhaps they suffer from some beginnings of dimensia, and took on false doctrines because they were slowly “loosing it” upstairs?

Sorry I couldn’t think of a more charitable way to put it…

But I know my grandfather suffers from dimensia, and he sometimes gets “strange” ideas about his own faith because of it…

I don’t know if those sisters are losing their minds, but it sure does seem like the group’s foundress is. She needs to be checked by a doctor…

These folks were excommunicated by the Catholic Church for worshipping Mary.Something we’re regularly libled with here.Obviously we can legitimately claim that worship of Mary results in excommunication.Think they’ll believe us?

…And Protestants and Muslims claim we worship Mary. 🤷

And that was the exact point that the guy who sent me the link was making, so he definitely believes us, and he happens to be a Lutheran.

From an earlier article:
In her writings, Mme. Giguère described visions and messages she received from God, explaining that Mary, the mother of Jesus, is fully divine, and also that, as her modern incarnation, so is Mme. Giguère. Rather than the traditional Catholic Trinity - in which God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are each fully divine and part of a three-part deity - the Army of Mary now speaks of a “quinternity,” including Mary and Mme. Giguère.
Of course, the quinternity. Why didn’t I see it before?

😃

That just shows how nuts these people are.

The only information I’ve been able to find so far about this sect has been news articles from when the six nuns were excommunicated. All we can do is pray for every one of it’s members, including their foundress.

Why do people believe everything they see on the internet pertaining to the Catholic faith is true? Good grief…🤷

This is sad, but very true.

I’d be happy to drive you over to visit the excommunicated sisters, I know them and they are just up the road. It is heartbreaking and sad that people can be led into false teachings.

Thanks kage_ar for the links. I’ll take a look at them. I’ll be praying for these poor misguided sisters.

Sorry for the double post, but I would just like to point out the ironic contradiction found on the Army of Mary’s official website.
Army of Mary Official Website:
At its very foundation, it was specified that “the Army of Mary will be recognized by this single trait: its fidelity to Rome and to the Pope.”
Yeah right.
