For example:

sports practice
fantasy sports
sports betting/picking
video games
computer games
any virtual or simulation game

I am checking to be sure.

not unless they get in the way of living your life properly, relationships with those who deserve your time and attention, moral obligations, etc

Well the video games could be if they were full of pronographic images, which many are.

Please stop this and go see a priest. You seem to be so scrupulous that you keep opening threads asking if every little thing is a sin.

The answer is NO NO NO NO NO NO!!

The others are definitely not a sin but this seems like it might be. I thought gambling was a sin?
Doesn’t anyone ever read the Catechism of the Catholic Church. ALL Church teachings are summarised in the CCC.

Gambling per se is not a sin.

CCC 2413 Games of chance (card games, etc.) or wagers are not in themselves contrary to justice. They become morally unacceptable when they deprive someone of what is necessary to provide for his needs and those of others. The passion for gambling risks becoming an enslavement. Unfair wagers and cheating at games constitute grave matter, unless the damage inflicted is so slight that the one who suffers it cannot reasonably consider it significant.

I agree. The Catechism is a very useful tool in our faith. In response to that though, the core team members of our youth group are finally teaching people how to use the Catechism. This is something that all youth should learn, either in youth group nights or CCD.

Actually thistle, you’re not exactly right on this.

If the video games were full of pornographic images, would you still consider playing them not a sin? I suggest you think all possibilities before you post.

I cannot in my wildest imagination come up with a scenario where any of these would be sinful, unless the last item simulates something immoral. If someone has suggested such to you, you would best discuss it with your own priest in confession.

The OP did not mention pornography so by default he is not asking about that.
Even the non-scrupulous know watching anything pornographic is a sin.

There is nothing that is a sin until you yourself make it so. The rules set by Gods Church are the law so you must follow them, of course. But simple stuff like those mentioned are not sins, unless you forgo doing Gods work for them. You simply do not have enough time in your whole life to make up for your sins, you will never deserve heaven(God wants to give it to you in the best way, always and forever). So the point is that every moment you spend pleasing yourself instead of making time with God is not a good idea. God wants you to be happy so enjoy yourself of course, just don’t overdo anything because thats when you lose.

I was raised in another denomination of Christianity up until about 7 months ago and I confuse the teachings sometimes. Sorry.
