My nearby Orthodox neighbors have suffered an attack by an arsonist - the PDF has pics…

It was on the 23rd of August. The arsonist set fire to the holy table in the altar.

This is the second Arson in as many weeks targeting Christians in the greater Anchorage area - tho’ they are apparently unrelated. (A lutheran parish was burned the week before.)

Prayers for our Orthodox Brethren in this very expensive incident…

Fortunately, the Animension was not significantly damaged!
 
Church buildings make great targets for arsonists because they are usually easy to break into, not heavily guarded, and empty most of the time. And while they do great damage, it’s when they decide that they need even bigger thrills by burning occupied buildings that this becomes a deadly problem. I hope the police catch up with this person before he gets to that stage. May God bless and help those affected by these crimes. :crossrc:

… yet how miraculous, especially given that the Holy Table was set afire!

We pray for these churches and your community at large.
 
Rev Fr. James sent the artos collection from Dormition to the Lutheran parish. I expect he’ll send any envelopes marked for St. John’s to them, as he said he’d do for the Lutheran parish.
