Hey guys this is one of my first posts on here but I attend LSU and in our campus newspaper there was an article saying the porn shouldn’t be demonized and that it should be something that is accepted and if people find out their partners are looking at it they should not freak out.

I want to write a reply to the newspaper, if you have any helpful points or info please post them up. I’d really appreciate all the help! Here’s the link to the article

Yes, go ahead and write them. There is already one contrary comment posted after the article. But it is important to note that the article you cited is just one person’s opinion and does not represent the view of LSU or of the campus newspaper editors. Therefore don’t accuse LSU or the campus newspaper of holding that view unless you see further proof that they do (like if they only published one view and refused opposing views).

I completely disagree with that article. I am single, have always been, but I want to be courted one day. How can that happen if said man is taking me out on a date, we say our goodbyes, then he goes home and dives into a bucket of internet depravity? How quickly that strips away all of the emotion, the beauty, of the date we just had together…I’m left in turmoil and tension at home, while he is blissfully romping through the gardens of other women.

I suppose if anything, you should focus on the merits of communication. No one should just assume that there partner is okay with it - I would be livid.

Make the point that it distorts a person’s psyche and creates an appetite for sexual stimulation that has nothing to do with love, sharing of one’s self, etc. It also creates unreal expectations of others and renders the viewer unfit to have a real relationship with a spouse.

All this defense of that stuff is a twisted product of the defense of “liberation” from “repression.” We need to talk seriously about the effect this is having on our culture.

Vacuous garbage.

How many more broken homes and divorces will we have to suffer before we all agree to stop taking advice on how to order society from these palpable misfits?

I recall several decades ago Patrick Moynihan launched a commission because he was concerned about the black illegitimacy rate. It was around 20-25% then. It’s 70-80% today, and 20-25% is the white illegitimacy rate (which was low-single digits then). What changed between now and then? The metastasis of the sexual revolution. The hubristic declaration that sex is “just sex” and has no consequences (and thus no meaning). The universalization of porn. The reduction of marriage to a mere contract to be entered into lightly and broken at will. Pfah! It turns out, enslaving yourself to your passions (i.e., “sexual liberation”) has consequences, and all of them bad. I pray this woman, if that virtuous term can be applied to such a mewling and ignoble thing as her, repents of her errors before she induces any more people to heresy and Hell.
