“It makes it more difficult for families raising children,” Bishop Smith says. “Now we have to live in this reality.”
His Excellency Bishop Smith is obviously right here…
The problem is that kids get into the gummy bears, cookies, brownies and assorted candies that are laced with THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), the potent psychoactive chemical that provokes most of marijuana’s psychological effects.
This is clearly an issue when the kids are getting involved. Seriously, gummy bears have THC in them now?!

This is a ridiculous. Out of concern for the safety of children, federal laws or regulations mandate "adult-proof "caps on medicine bottles. Why, then, do the states which decriminalize marijuana not ban its sale in particularly child-attractive forms? I suspect the reason lies with the intensive persuasive effort to present this drug as “natural” and “harmless” in order to obtain legal status.

The same reason candy flavored liquors exist, and also alcohol laced sweets

Well, one only needs to research why drug laws were created and put in place to understand how wrong they truly are.

The psychotic mass killer in Japan had cannabis in his blood when tested.
It’s bad stuff. The unmetabolized compounds can stay in the liver for years.

I bet he also had water in his blood too. That’s dangerous stuff you know. It has hydrogen in it. Hydrogen is what caused the Hindenburg disaster.

Again, as proven by countless studies, Alcohol literally kills hundreds if not thousands of people every DAY. It’s the most abused, deadly and addicting drug out there. Marijuana is a a plant that makes you hungry and happy.

Child proof locks on bottles can only be opened by children. I have to decant meds into ordianry containers after taking a knife to the proof ones…

Two other points. Are we talking re recreational or medical use? Is addiction the same issue if for medical reasons? Lost count of the number of times I have had a suggestion to try marijuana for serious chronic pain and yes I know the codeine I take on prescription is addictive but at my age I know and trust is and it works

No side effects then? apart from weight gain? And re alcohol. that is in excess and the articles make it clear that mar’ is dangerous also . side tracking does not impress or help

It’s interesting what some people think is funny and not funny.
I know a person with a severe nerve disorder and often wondered whether it was traceable to his frequent use of pot.

When my various friends got into pot the effect on their lives was always negative. Of course they always blamed it on other factors, but the only ones who have made lives for themselves were the ones who gave it up entirely or almost entirely. Please don’t insist its only effects are making people hungry and happy because evidence tells me otherwise.

For this wisdom, thank you. Maybe the trouble is that a drug that affects mood also affects your judgement about it?

Happy and hungry sounds a terrible way to be full time.

So why do they advocate is for eg pain relief?

I agree, its funny though, with all the deaths and problems caused by alcohol, Ive never heard anyone calling for more regulation or restrictions on the industry, but when certain opiates start causing problems, they are so quick to put new laws in place to deal with them, suddenly opiates are demonized, we are told its for our health and safety…well, OK??

Even stranger, the big pharma companies didnt complain one bit when the Govt suddenly clamped down on their big cash cows (oxycodone), that would be like Budweiser not complaining if the Govt brought back prohibition.

Seems like, if there is a large industry that brings in lots of money behind the dangerous product, they are somehow exempt, (alcohol and tobacco)

Its also interesting that the powers that be were to quick to recognize prohibition on alcohol did not work, but they have attempted the very same thing with drugs like marijuana…where is the sense in that?

I’ve never understood the idea that because something is worse, then it makes something else good. Marijuana advocates use this a lot.

People who smoke marijuana are going to be under less stress, less aggressive and value peace and love more than non-users. Why don’t researchers include such variables in their studies? Quite often, researchers publish only those findings that support their hypothesis. I can assure you that pot has its positive and negative effects, and studies that focus on one or the other are biased.

Obviously anecdotes like this are no evidence at all. In the US alone, there are close to 50 million users of recreational or medical marijuana, whether rarely or moderately. Canada has had loosely regulated recreational use for decades, and Mexico, well let’s say it’s not a common arrest. I don’t think there are that many numbers of negative folks - not more than the statistical data shows for the general population. Of course, there are also many that use marijuana, drink alcohol, and abuse all kinds of other drugs all at once.
