I wish the blessing was better known. I had to tell my parish about it with our first loss and put everything together myself. It wasn’t offered with our third loss either and I felt weird asking for it again. This is one area that I think could use more attention from the Church.
 
Totally agree. My parish priest naturally offered to pray for my husband and myself but the blessing wasn’t known to him.
 
Do you have an Elizabeth Ministry in your parish? Contact them to see if they can facilitate women receiving the blessing. A woman can feel so alone when they lose a child but the Elizabeth ministry is beautiful in wrapping them in prayers.

We have nothing at our parish. I had to ask that our diocese add a miscarriage page to the Office of Family, Marriage, and Life. I also just this past Sunday donated the first book about miscarriage to our parish library. Our diocese offers a free burial in conjunction with a local funeral home. But even that we only found out about because another priest in the diocese happened to come through DH’s line at work. And it isn’t even mentioned on that web page I asked them to create.

There just aren’t a lot of Catholic resources for miscarriage in my area (I’ve been looking for 2.5 years). And those that exist aren’t well known or organized. It actually makes me really sad because there is a great pro-life program but few to no resources for miscarriage. 😦
 
I’ve also checked nearby parishes and they have nothing. If I want support for my miscarriage in this area, my choices are to look online or look for a secular program. And I live in a decent sized city.
