Gee, that’s a wonder since the Communists left power with the Velvet Revolution in 1989 and the Czech Republic has been a democratic country ever since…It reminds me of what a man said to me in the Czech Republic in the mid 1990s. We were attending a May 1 Labor Day party sponsored by the Communist Party (the whole village was there because the commies offered free beer, sausage, and a polka band, but noone was communist). I asked him his thoughts on the communists. He said they had 40 years to show what they could do and that they certainly showed it.
