What It Means to Entrust Children Who Die Without Baptism to God’s Mercy| National Catholic Register
An article with many things to say, it explains that “while we must hold that humans who die in original sin (with no actual sin of their own) cannot have the beatific vision, the language of the Catechism of the Catholic Church that we ‘can only entrust them to the mercy of God’ (§1261) implies that we could hope that God has provided a way to sanctify these children meaning that they would no longer have original sin. It also states in §1283 that ‘with respect to children who have died without Baptism, the liturgy of the Church invites us to trust in God’s mercy and to pray for their salvation.’ These prayers are found in the Funeral Rite and the Rite of Burial for Unbaptized Children.”
