As a Christian, do you consider the Blessed Virgin Mary as your Mother?

Since we are all brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ, and Mary is his mother, do you consider Mary your mother as well? I like your view on this matter, Catholic or Non-Catholic Christians.

You can vote on this, and if you so desire, you can explain your position.
 
yes, because Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior. I believe in Her powerful intercession and believe that it hurts Her Heart so much when we hurt Jesus’. Like Jesus, She is a very kind and patient Mother.
 
Yes, Because when Jesus was on the cross, just before He died, he made us all his brothers and sisters when he said…“this is your son…” refering to John, and then to John he said, …“this is your Mother…”
 
Sure. If I consider God my Father and Jesus as my Brother, then it only seems natural to consider Mary my Mother since she gave birth to Jesus.
I’m Catholic and have been since birth, in case anyone was curious how I got my response. 😃

Honestly, I believe what the Church teaches about her, but how I “feel” is more uncertain. She doesn’t feel like my mom ?
I don’t pray asking for her intercession as my mother. I ask because she’s Jesus’ Mother. More her relationship to Jesus…how she influenced His decision at the wedding of Cana.

Jesus is our brother…well, I don’t “feel” like he’s my brother.
He’s so much more than that to me.

ROTFLOL This is why I answered I don’t know.
Not to debate…there is no debate on how someone feels about anything, BUT the one thing I do know is that she is the Mother of God…Jesus is God…she is His Mother. That’s so simple.

My view is changing of her because the more I have to defend her the closer I become.

Calling her my mother…not there yet, but I will defend all the church teaches because like I said, I believe it.

THAT DISCIPLE IS YOU!

The Blessed Virgin Mary is more your Mother than even your maternal one!

The mere fact that it is recorded in the Holy Bible that Jesus gave us His mother, at the most powerful moment in Jesus’ triumph over the Devil, can only be something perpetual, not just some temporal thing. If it truly was just temporal, why did the Holy Spirit instruct St. John to insert it there? Do you really think that would make sense on God’s part?

God said to honor our parents [the Hebrew actually says to glorify them]: How much more shall we honor and glorify the one who bore us Jesus? If we, as Christians, strive to be more Christ-like, we must be obedient to the Blessed Virgin Mary just as Jesus was obedient.

Furthermore, the timing of Jesus’ decision to give us His mother is no coincidence; it was only at the utter peak of His Glory during the Passion that He gave us this wonderful gift of His mother.

Why would you throw away a gift from Jesus?

How have you fulfilled this? If you really believed in the Word of God you would be blessing the name of Mary unceasingly for she is the one who said “YES” to the Holy Spirit and bore the One who would bring us eternal salvation!

I guess as a spiritual mother.

I’m not as Marian as most Catholics.

So are you saying that Jesus is not God? or are you saying that Mary is not the mother of Jesus?

It doesn’t make sense when one says Mother Mary is not the Mother of God yet he/she believes that Jesus is God!

Mary is the Mother of God, the Son. Not the Mother of God, the Father.

I find it difficult for Protestants who deny Mary as the Mother of God. To do so would deny Jesus’ divinity, a Christian would be guilty of a heresy called Nectorism, which sees two separate persons in the Incarnate Christ, the one Divine and the other Human. **Nectorism **was condemned by the Early Christian Church in the Third Ecumenical Council at Ephesus in 431 A.D.
 
At the end of 4th grade I made a friend whose house I started to visit.

The first visits were friendly; I called my friend’s mother “Mrs. Herlocher.” Over that summer I started to visit daily and “Mrs.Herlocher” often invited me to eat dinner with their family.

My friend and I became like brothers; so much so that when I would ask for something at their house I wouldn’t ask “Mrs. Herlocher”–I started to mistakenly call her “Mom.”

My point:

The closer you get to Jesus being a brother, the closer you feel Mary as your mother.

Yes and as God he choose to create His own mother, perfect. God is so powerful and so good.

If one realizes that Jesus is so much to him/her, he/she should pray hard to see that Mother Mary is so much to Jesus - this might help him/her to realize Mother Mary means a lot more to him/her.

**Mary was the *mother ***of his humanity or of the *man *Christ Jesus. This is why we *never *read in the Bible that she is the *mother of God, *but only that she is ***Jesus’ mother ***or the ***mother of Jesus, ***as identified in Scripture: Then **Jesus’ mother **and brothers arrived. Standing outside, they sent someone in to call him. (Mark 3:31) Now **Jesus’ mother **and brothers came to see him, but they were not able to get near him because of the crowd. (Luke 8:19)
They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the **mother of Jesus, **and with his brothers. (Acts 1:14)
 
Here’s my take as a Catholic:

Mary is immaculate and blessed and a powerful intercessor for us. However as a human her powers are limited, whereas God’s are not. So God being a father is not the same as Mary being a mother. Mary is certainly like a spiritual mother, but she is not a mother in the same way God is a father. She is not required for our salvation.

We have like 3 parents. Our mom, our dad, and God.
