  1. The number of Seminarians is growing rapidly across Australia.
  2. The young men called to the Priesthood, are on the whole conservative, faithful to the teachings of the Church and many prefer The Traditional Latin Mass. The vast majority at least would prefer a traditional “flavour” in the Novus Ordo.
  3. We have to be silent about our traditional preferences until we are ordained or we risk being turfed out of the Seminary.
  4. There is significant positive change already afoot within the Seminaries – Espescially Liturgically.
The future of the Australian Church is hope-filled it will be one of orthodox fidelity to the true faith and one that will no longer tolerate dissenting, heretical nut cases that claim to be the voice of the Church.

If it is true: Deo gratias! If it is not true: Deo gratias! Even if only one priest is left on the face of the Earth in 50 years: Deo gratias! The true faith of our Lord will never fall away, as He Himself promised in Caesarea Philippi. It will be nice to see the Australian Mass explode forth into eternity with joyous, solemn praise of God. 🙂 I pray that you are right, and hope very dearly beyond hope that all these droves of traditionalist priests you talk about will take over the liturgical world in love.

👍 How wonderful for the Church in Australia! From what I am given to understand a much needed turn around for her down under,🙂 Peace, Carlan

I read the article on that way, that some people inside or outside the Church want to have control over the selection process of the bishops, and resent that the Hierarchy has such right.

Here is an interesting sentence:
He said the matter depended on whether a bishop was regarded as an employee or under a contract of employment
Do the members of the Church (laymen, lower clergy, even the bishops of the same nation) have more control over the selection of a new bishop than employees in a secular corporation?

If the number of seminarians faithful to the tradition are growing than let us say thank to God.

Playing devil’s advocate…re: Bolded section…
  1. If they have to be silent, how does one know they are there
  2. By making this open declaration on a blog, those opposed to the se men can now begin to look for and remove them…(if that truly be their intent)
Overall - I think this could be a bad thing to reveal this way.

Peace
James

So as I see it, basically these seminarians are advocating living a lie in order to get ordained and then have it their way. Does anyone else see something wrong here?

Maybe - and maybe not. It depends on what they are asked and how they respond as to whether they are “living a lie”. Silence does not = lie…

Glory be to God in the Highest.

Deo gratias.

It is indeed good that the seminarians today are faithful to the Church.

Being an Australian I can somewhat corroborate what the person is saying in that of all the faithful young catholics that I know (myself being among them), they are all orthodox and generally prefer the EF. I have yet to come across a liberal catholic young person since the only young people to remain catholic are orthodox (since the rest just fall into atheism or agnosticism.

For example every one of the catholic people in the catholic society at my university (except the priest who apparently is a liberal) goes to the city’s EF mass at least occasionly. (theres only one regular place it occurs so its difficult for many people to go every week)

Seeing this it comes as no surprise to me that the majority of seminarians would be faithful to tradition and orthodox. It also comes as no surprise that they would be kicked out if they publicly expressed that in the seminary since the majority of priests and even bishops here are at best what you’d call liberal and at worst heretics. (just look at St Mary’s, south brisbane). This is best summed up by a statement by a priest who stated on national tv at the canonisation of mary mackillop in reference to the phrase by St Ignatius loyola.

“I will believe that the black i see before me is white if the hierarchical Church so defines it”

that*“of course this doesn;t apply today”*

this nicely sums up the attitude of a large number of australian clerics (the majority surprise surprise harking from the 60’s and 70’s)

This American seminarian would like to say that things are much the same in this part of the world. Granted, there’s still a few who are largely in favor of Mass with guitars and that sort of stuff, but the balance is tipping towards the side of tradition. And it is great!
