Good Evening - Afternoon - Morning (wherever you are in this world! :D)

We know that The Church is the Body of Christ here on earth. We get that from the Bible. Why is it that protestants nor catholics can see how that unites each and everyone of us into ONE?

Does a hand perform the same as a foot? Does an eye perform the same as the liver?

Christ is the Heart of this Body and each of our ‘parts’ perfrom differently to spread the Word of Christ throughout this broken world. Of course we are in a bit of an epileptic siesure right now because some of the parts are trying to shake the others thinking they are less important than them.

My question is this:

Why in the heck are we trying to chew off the other limbs of this Body just because it performs a different way to spread God’s Love and Worship HIM? We are stripping our own armor off to cut off a toe, nose, ear, hip just because we feel that they are less than or not a part of the Body. But that part DOES have a purpose that God uses to move the Body throughout.

If we were to work together properly as the Body should, we could spread His love in such an amazing way!

If you’re talking about Catholics discussing the shortcomings of protestant communities and services, then its more of a case of them cutting themselves off the body and Catholics trying to bring them back by telling them what they’re missing.

If you’re talking about Catholics bickering with other Catholics (for the Body of Christ is the Catholic Church, not all Christians) then perhaps we should be a little more civil, but really, I look at it more as a family bickering; we fight, but we know that we really love each other.

As a Protestant, I can certainly agree with your sentiment.

I think, however, that we must also strive to defend the true doctrine of God and uphold it, even if that causes divisions in the visible body.

It is WAY more than just discussing that I am talking about. Some are maming, killing, and tearing down all in the name of Christ. Some are mocking and demeaning, all in the name of righteousness.

I respectfully disagree that the Body is ONLY Catholics. Even the Catholic Church states that Protestants are brothers and sisters in Christ, therefore we are all a part of the same group, Christianity.

That kind of statement is what this thread is about. You are shooting the foot because you feel it has no value…

Discuss and defend, most definitely. But the poster above you gives a PERFECT example of what I am talking about. See my post above this…

Of course you do, or else you’d be Catholic! 😛 (someday, deo voluntis!)

Yes, are all part of the same group, and you do recognize Our Lord Jesus Christ, so you are our brother and sister. Nevertheless those who are not Catholic are seperating themselves from the Body of Christ (or else are imperfectly connected to it, depending on how heretical their veiws). The Catholic Church is the One True Church, so it is the Body of Christ, the Bride of Christ, the Church of Christ.

Not true. The foot would be Catholic, and I do value those imperfectly joined apendages that we call Protestant communities, because if it weren’t for them I wouldn’t have the love for Christ and His Scriptures that I have today (I was protestant). The Diversity of Christ’s Church are the truly joined and different parts of the body of Christ; the Franciscans, Dominicans, and Carmelites, the Roman, Maronite, Byzantine, and Chaldean, this is the true Body of Christ. United in doctrine and Sacraments, One Faith, One Baptism, One Body.

By inventing new doctrines and denying the others it is protestants who seperate themselves from the Body, but we continue to pray for and hope to guide them Home where they belong.

This of course, is wrong and horrible. All Christians, (indeed, all Humans) should respect life as the gift from God it is, and respect the rights of others to believe whatever they wish.
