Ash Wednesday Mass

I have a simple question regarding receiving ashes and attending two masses today. I attend mass at lunchtime during weekdays at a Cathedral close to where I work. This evening I will be going to mass at our home parish with my family. I am unclear about whether it is improper to receive ashes at both masses.
Is it improper to receive ashes at mass today at lunchtime and again this evening with my family?

certainly you can receive Ashes twice, also communion twice for that matter if the second time is in the context of a complete Mass, although there is no need to do either.
