I didnt expect it to be packed,as its midweek, but where i worshipped,it was jampacked ,despite having four services.the parking lot was chaotic.it was like easter or christmas eve in attendance ,but a different vibe!

I’m a candidate this Easter and tonight was my first Ash Wednesday! I was so pleased to be a part of it and the service was beautiful. Lots of people there since there aren’t many Catholic Churches around where I live.

That’s wonderful to hear that it was a full house! Unfortunately my Church was not super packed, and I noticed people slip away after the ashes were distributed. Very rude, IMO.:tsktsk:

That’s alright. At least they made an effort to come.

My parish was the same way. It was great to see, as I have been praying for this very thing the last few weeks. I know there were quite a few families there that don’t normally practice. I never see them at any of the masses, and they didn’t know all the responses. I am just happy they at least took some time to worship the Lord.

Mine was packed too… so much so that I didn’t get to go. We have a 9am Mass, noon, and then a 7:30 pm Mass (we usually have 6 Masses on Sunday).

Most people work or are at school for 9 and noon (including me) and tried to go to 7:30 (including me). I couldn’t even get in the parking lot and traffic was backed up so far people not going to Mass (other people/commuters) were angerly honking horns and such. It was a mess.

When it was a few minutes before Mass started and I still wasn’t even in the parking lot yet, I turned around and went home (wasn’t even sure if I would find a parking space). I was bummed out that I didn’t get to go–but at least it wasn’t a holy day of obligation. I just said three times the usual prayers that night. I remember it being crowded last year, but not that bad. They might need to add another Mass next year (or even just have a distribution of ashes).

Aside from that, the rest of the day went great! I was blessed with not being hungry at all, all day, despite fasting.
