As some of you know I was raised in the Jehovah’s Witness cult and left at age 34. Unless you have been “in” you really don’t know what it is like to live that life. The next time JWs knock on your door and want to share the “good news” of a paradise earth and everlasting life with you, please do not encourage them.

Instead ask them if they would let their child die rather than accept a blood transfusion? Ask them if someone decides to leave JWs will they be shunned and cut off from friends and family as if they are dead? Then turn them politely away and pray for them.

(Please read this former JW’s story. Have some tissues handy.

Ruth’s story:

A MOTHER’S REGRET FOR A RELIGIOUS DEVOTION)

It’s heartbreaking to see what the LDS causes people to do. I can’t even imagine the paint that she still feels…the Truth really does set us free. Thanks for posting that.

Jehovah’s Witnesses not LDS–(prob just a typo?) as far as I know LDS allow blood transfusions. They are similar in tht they are fringe groups with cult-like mind control techniques for sucking in and keeping members—but the teachings are very far apart indeed.

I hope more people read her story! And then maybe out of curiosity go on to look at some other posts on that forum. It has saved many lives.

Yes sorry about that - I was just in a discussion with some people from the LDS and got that mixed up with JW…maybe I should stop using acronyms

I’ll make sure I read through some of the other posts later.

when I said “don’t encourage” JWs I did not mean do not engage in debate–just do not engage in pointless debate or think that being politically correct will get you anywhere. In the name of religious tolerance many just end up being put down as a ‘Return Visit’ and encourage an endless cycle of Saturday morning visits–thinking they are ‘planting seeds’ when in the JW reality they are only giving them time to report. If you really want to try and score points with a JW at the door or in your home–please be very careful. Use the many apologetics available and do Google for some excellent ‘XJW’ sites. Jeff Schwehm’s website is probably the best place to go for tips on how to actually get thru to them:
