Such practices, the priest replies, “contradict the honor, respect, and loving fear that we owe to God alone.”

I’d call this one a no-brainer.
Please, dear Catholics, get rid of your voodoo dolls.

I’m not sure what baffles me more: that a Catholic from a developed, Western country (presumably) would actually use a “voodoo doll” rather than just chuckling and displaying it as a touristy item, or that said Catholic would feel a need to ask a priest if this was a harmful practice.

I’m afraid I must agree. Perhaps the OP might want to attend a few sessions of her local RCIA group, so that she can get some apparently much-needed refreshers on the Catholic faith.
