I have read and posted often recently because I have found the god discussion very interesting. I have been very respectful asking many questions, and often many have been asked of me. I thought I would create a thread to keep it all in one place. Ask anything that is curious to you, and I will answer honestly. 🙂

I know that there are probably as many answers to this question as there are atheist on this planet.

From your perspective “How did the universe, this planet, and human life come into existence?”

Richard Dawkins, one of the world’s most famous athiests, believes that the universe had a beginning but he has admitted that he has no idea how the universe began, do you know how it began?

Do you believe in love? Is your belief in love dependent on any empirical evidence?

Why have you joined CAF?

Do you enjoy the debate? Did you think you were going to "convert"us (from your posts I doubt you thought this)? Do you actually long to have religious belief?

Also do you agree that Richard Dawkins atheism is every bit as fundamental as those of other beliefs? I’m a trained scientist (astrophysics) and I find his arguments to really boil down to “this is what I believe, I’m incredibly intelligent so you should believe it too, you poor deluded fools”.

And if you in turn want to ask how a scientist ends up believing in God, feel free! 🙂

  1. *]What’s with the lower case “g” in God? Even if you don’t believe in Him, I still type “Buddha” not “buddah”
*]What happened before the Big Bang, the universe did not always exist, but God by definition is eternal, no beginning, no end. So what other explanation is there?
*]Does God not exist, or is the existence of God possible? (quite amusingly, Atheists answer this question differently)

That’s my only two questions I think of. Atheism is so basic. What’s there more to know? 🤷

God bless 😃 (doesn’t matter if you don’t believe in Him, you can pretend your landlord isn’t real but you have to pay the mortgage)

I have no questions for you. I used to be an atheist. All of mine were answered. Books I would like to recommend:

The Science Before Science - A Guide to Thinking in the 21st Century, by Anthony Rizzi, Ph.D., a theoretical physicist who solved an 80-year old problem in Enstein’s Theory of Relativity. Founder of the Institute for Advanced Physics.

Modern Physica, Ancient Faith, by Stephen M. Barr, Ph.D., a physicist from the U of Delaware.

God’s Two Books: Copernican Cosmology and Biblical Interpretation in Early Modern Science, by Kenneth J. Howell, Ph.D., Ph.D. (he has two of 'em)

Are you a good, decent person with a sense of moral values, who also admits to being imperfect like the rest of us? If so, I have no problems whatsoever with your being atheist and no further questions.

OK, to start when writing the word god, write with respect, it is God and not god.

Yeah same here, I was agnostic for about 36 years, but like Jim I have come to believe in God. I hope you consider reading some of the books recommended, if you are willing to consider that you may be wrong.
