So, this may not be the best wording, my apologies! One would expect our views to be compatible, because God is but one God 🙂 In essence, when a religion is revealed, it is perfect. But as we know, humanity is not perfect, and we try and try to interpret scripture ourselves. That is the reason we need progressive revelation.
The thing with progressive revelation is also this: God is all-knowing and reveals what humanity can comprehend at the time, and what we need. The Holy Spirit comes down through every Manifestation of God, so they are one and the same.
However, each is extrapolating on the message of the latest, so Jesus Christ’s perfect message is added to by Muhammad’s, and by Baha’u’llah’s. So each revealed religion is still true at its core, but humanity may interpret of completely change certain things from the original message, and that makes it tainted by human intervention. So yes, there are degrees of correctness, as you put it.

Progressive revelation is not needed when the Holy Spirit has guided the Church throughout the centuries and keeps it from falling into error. Christ promised to give us the Spirit to reveal the truth at all times (John 16:13) and to never allow his Church to be corrupted (Matthew 16:18).

Christ also warned us to beware of false prophets and those claiming to be the Christ (Matthew 7:15, Matthew 24:5). Muhammad and Baha’u’llah fit exactly that, false prophets and false Christs who claim to come in Christ’s name but in reality are wolves coming to lead the elect away from the truth.

If you feel that my answers cross a line, then please do call me out. That isn’t my intention and I don’t want anyone to feel I’m disrespecting them or their faith!
 
How do you recognize what is at the core of each revelation and what has been mutated by man? What key doctrines or concepts always carry over, and when new authentic ones are introduced how do you know they are part of the next level of revelation rather than misinterpretations of scriptures or traditions?
 
It could be argued that the transition from the Old Testament to the New is Progressive Revelation, even though the reality the of the Trinity would essentially deny that. But it’s a concept I have heard pitched from certain Protestant groups.
 
I’ve also heard that in relation to the revelation of the Trinity when people were ready to accept it.
 
In essence we would believe that it is, because we believe in Moses and Abraham, we believe in the OT prophets, and we believe in Jesus Christ.
 
I’m not saying there wasn’t ever any form of “progressive revelation.” Clearly Abraham didn’t receive what later Moses did. Christ, and the sending of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost to guide the Church, is the end to this. God’s revelation is fulfilled in Christ. Christ is the truth. Revelation was given to lead humanity into Christ, not to keep us in check every few hundred years.

I think, in the spirit of this thread and within the subforum it might be prudent to phrase your statement as a question.
 
For them he is one of the major manifestations of God, a prophet similar to Islamic views of Jesus (which isn’t surprising since they came out of Islam). They acknowledge his crucifixion, yet like many fundamentally flawed religions, deny his resurrection, claiming he is only “spiritually alive.” Naturally, denial of Christ’s resurrection leads to denial of general resurrection at the end of time, something even Paul recognized in 1 Corinthians 15 when some in the Corinthian Church began denying the resurrection.

I’m just informing of flaws in the religion, trying to help this person (and possibly others) see the light of Christ. That is all.
 
Re-read the title of the thread. Here the OP takes questions and gives answers. Some of us would like to hear what she has to say about her faith rather than your second-hand understanding of her faith.

Feel free to start your own thread with your own ground rules.

And some of us want to spread the Gospel, and this being a Catholic Forum is the perfect place to do so for others who have rejected the Gospel.
 
I commend your good intentions, but this is not the place. This is exactly the same issue that caused the Ask Me Anything About Judaism thread to be closed by the mods.

You can start a new thread to post all the flaws for anyone to see. The OP has all of CAF to explore if he/she is interested in converting. Let’s be respectful of the purpose of this thread.
 
Perhaps you failed to notice that this is the Non-Catholic Religions forum.
 
Perhaps you failed to notice this is a Catholic Forum? Non-Religion section is indeed for talking about other religions and spreading the truth to them.
