I am a 16 year old and I feel like I have a vocation to the priesthood. Currently I am praying for the conversion and healing of about 8 people in my life and I have been venerating an icon of the Most Blessed Virgin. I ask god to send me a miracle through Mary (possibly through the image of Mary weeping) so that my family would believe, so that the oil could be used to heal our close family friend and to confirm my call to the priesthood. Is this a sin? am I sinning by asking for this?

Thanks.

I don’t think your prayers are a sin as long as you don’t use the outcome as a test of your faith or of God’s love. We could all use a miracle in our lives. I pray for miracles all the time. Our salvation is a miracle.

No you are not sinning. However, by being so specific you are imposing your conditions on God. You have specific outcomes (healing) and particular methods (through Mary, Icon weeping, oil etc.) in mind.
Prayer should be an opening up to God. Being still and letting Him fill you. Let Him replace your will with His will. At present you have not achieved this.
I do not tell you this to discourage you, but to help you open yourself to God’s graces and that His will act in your life.

I too Pray for a miracle. I pray for a healing of my dear wife who has alzheimers, but more than that I ask God for His protection, and His strength to accept whatever His will is for us.

Peace
James

You are allowed to request from God certain (even specific) conditions or results will occur. However, you are correct that it is better spiritually to be open to however God choses to answer the prayer and not so fixated on one specific outcome that you forget to keep your eyes open to the big picture.

“Thought for the Day: There is a certain genius that comes from the faith and we see it in our day in Mother Teresa of Calcutta. The saints tackled great and difficult things and accomplished wonders because they did not depend upon their own strength and effort. They knew that all things are possible with God and they took God at His word in asking for miracles and near-miracles. They were never disappointed.” ewtn.com/library/MARY/PALLOTTI.htm

how can God give if we don’t ask, as to the methods, let God guide your prayer- he will pray, and then pray every day, or believe he will answer,

but don’t say to your family- “If the Mary don’t weep, you’re right”, unless God lets you know this,

I used to often ask for signs, sometimes still, but hear the feeling, that Ultimate sense, and maybe ask for signs from righteous Catholics, that tends to occur.

As to signs, well- ask, ask, ask, but don’t forget to ask in the Holy Triune Names, and remember to truly put all into prayer.

God bless, Let the answer be the answer, maybe there is another sign, one you must ask to know.
“Pray in His name”, his nature, and you will be answered, but God interprets the meaning, not always the words, but believe, and force this into the skies, through devoted prayer, and fasting.
God Guide you

I don’t think so. Saint Faustina (the mystic who promoted of Divine Mercy) says that Jesus tells us He wants us to ask for help. I don’t think asking for a miracle is overstepping any boundaries. We wouldn’t have any saints to canonise if people didn’t ask for miracles, since miracles are needed for canonisation causes.

However, the effectivity of your prayers for miracles can be dependent on how holy you are. Scripture tells us to seek God first, then the other favours we need will come. There have been saints who’ve had miracles left and right in their lives, but they were so holy that the miracles didn’t seem so extraordinary. So, keep in mind that you need to pray for yourself too; praying for yourself is more important than praying for anything else.

The bible agrees try to purify yourself, but also don’t expect actions to right the heart, expect God to- especially with a miracle, I have seen miracles, but they must be greatest inside, or pragmatic- a convince is the Blood miracle.

I’m also praying for that! I still keep praying for a miracle.
