God has truly been working in my life, as He always does. His timing is impeccable!
I am hoping to undergo knee replacement surgery, and have concerns about it. Please pray that everything will work out for me.
I was very athletic most of my life, and when I was 19 I fell on my knee while running. Because I returned to the active life when I was 41, that old sports injury has returned as severe arthritis; my right leg is currently bent and I cannot walk without 2 canes or a walker. I also have had severe pain and inflammation, currently being relieved with a cortisone injection every 3 months.
After being forced to give up the active lifestyle, I developed severe sleep apnea, causing a very huge weight gain. My husband was then laid off from his job of 30 plus years, and it seemed as if everything was lost.
But because of my husband’s layoff, we had to go on Medicaid, and as a result of that, we found a wonderful Christian medical clinic which offers care for low income people.
And as a result of that, we found a fantastic dr who correctly diagnosed my severe sleep apnea…she sent me for a sleep study, and as a result of being treated for sleep apnea with CPAP, I have lost a tremendous amount of weight without even trying! It turned out my appetite hormones were badly disordered due to the sleep apnea, causing me to feel starved all the time. Now I have a normal appetite back, and as aplus have lost by taste for sweet and salty so the weight is really coming off.
And then my knee began getting murch worse, so I went to an orthopedic dr who said I need a total knee replacement, but I would need to be a normal BMI first.
See how God works? He started me losing weight before the knee diagnosis, so that I was already on the path toward a normal BMI again! All of this happened withint a few months of each other.
My only concern is the surgery. I am hearing good and bad stories about recovery, and want to ask that you pray for me, and ask Our Lady of Lourdes and St Alphonsus Liguori, patron of arthritics to intercede for me.
Thank you!
