Thank you for that. I love the straightforward simplicity of the Baltimore Catechism. It really cuts through to the heart of things, doesn’t it?
Except for the absolute lack of mention of the Eastern Rites and the 6 other western forms, it’s pretty darned good… (but those forms and rites were all banned within the US by the 1st Plenary Council of Baltimore… the Pope overrode those bans… shortly AFTER the BC was written.)Thank you for that. I hadn’t realized that. I simply thought it was written to an audience of Latin-rite students and catechumens, and was avoiding complicating the issue. (I would also not have expected persons from the other Rites to be using the Baltimore Catechism for instruction - I had assumed they had their own Catechisms, suited to the norms of their own Rites.)Except for the absolute lack of mention of the Eastern Rites and the 6 other western forms, it’s pretty darned good… (but those forms and rites were all banned within the US by the 1st Plenary Council of Baltimore… the Pope overrode those bans… shortly AFTER the BC was written.)
3rd Plenary made the Baltimore Catechism manditory for “… all Catholics in the United States.”I hadn’t realized that. I am saddened that you were left out. Thanks be to God, we live in a new era.![]()
