Christina,

You’ve asked this question more than once within a month. That to me means you need to look elsewhere. Go to the nearest Catholic church and ask to talk to a Priest. He will give you a much better answer than you can find here.

You didn’t say whether you were scrupulous, but you said looking at the quotes again will give you panic attacks. So what I recommend is taking a step back from being online. Put the quotes away somewhere you don’t have to see them and speak to your doctor and a therapist about how to manage your anxiety. This isn’t going to get better until you do.

I haven’t asked this question… I literally just found out that this girl was raised Christian.

You’ve asked a lot of times whether it’s okay to associate with people who aren’t Catholic.

You need to find a Priest offline who can talk to you.

If my guess is right, and I think I am, and that this is user @ambasea, this poster has severe OCD, but does not listen to the advice to not seek help on these forums.

Ahhh I realize now that of course it isn’t sinful to associate with non-Catholics, but I know that in the past the Church has been pretty harsh on apostates so I was wondering if that was different.

Maybe the OP is referring to 2 Corinthians 6:14-15

Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness? Or what harmony has Christ with Belial, or what has a believer in common with an unbeliever?

I’m no expert on the matter, but it seems to be referring to marrying a non-believer, not being friends with one. In fact, 1 Corinthians 10:27-29 seems to say it’s fine to hang out with non-believers so long as you don’t do something that would upset God:

If one of the unbelievers invites you and you want to go, eat anything that is set before you without asking questions for conscience’ sake. But if anyone says to you, “This is meat sacrificed to idols,” do not eat it, for the sake of the one who informed you, and for conscience’ sake; I mean not your own conscience, but the other man’s; for why is my freedom judged by another’s conscience?

Ahh no, I’m not referring to unbelievers, but specifically to apostates.

Also, I’m not talking about Scripture, but of early church quotes ☺️

Ah, I just read somewhere that anyone who “receives an apostate” can be excommunicated.
Please. Relax. Calm down. In your life, you will have friends, and relatives, who are not Catholic. Or even Christian. Some may have lapsed from their faith. Some may never have had faith. Some may practice religions other than any variety of Christianity.

It’s OK.

You are not going to be excommunicated.
