I am looking for an explantion that involves more than “Sin”. It seems to me that God permits ignorance, since we are not born with knowledge of Gods existence.

Over the last 40 years, the mass media has gradually yielded to a pagan form of living. Anything goes. It was so gradual, even Catholics were gradually poisoned.

Look at the news. What do we get - news? Of course not. We get Jen wants Brad back, Angelina is doing this or that bad thing. Some idiot shoots a bunch of people, more death, killing and fear.

Thanks to the internet, some of us have not been conditioned to learn and interact politely. Instead, some of us have been conditioned to only outshout the other, or get them banned because a small group has decided a particular forum is their home and anybody they don’t like or who disagrees gets kicked out. We don’t do in-depth research because we’ve been conditioned to look at the wiki answer and accept it as 100% truth. Too many people have become a lot dumber and a lot lazier because of the internet. “Oh, like. I can’t read that. It’ll take more than 5 minutes.”

There has been no triumph. A genius level friend of mine who held a chair and professorship at a University, told me his friends have abandoned the internet. Instead, he spent $200.00 a year to get a scholarly journal to get the information he needed and he went to libraries.

Regarding the Church, and I direct this to all, including myself, how is one hour in Church, once a week, going to compete with the 24/7 propaganda being spewed by all media, with a few exceptions?

Peace,
Ed

Haha, the Catholic Church doesn’t claim to posess all truth, just the requirements for salvation, and the Truth as far as what we’re expected of through the examples of Jesus Christ and by the help of the Holy Spirit… 😃

But God hasn’t explained the meaning of evil.

Christ said even the elect would be seduced by the false prophets. Free will of lack of obedience is the primary cause. There are varying forms of ignorance also. Choosing to remain ignorant is the worst because you, well, choose to! God permits whatever we will to do. Whether its in line with His will is another story. The OT is full of men of ignorance and they eventually pay the price. God does not go for laziness. This what it extends into.

The truth offered by our Church is available to anyone willing to commit to learning.

In the opening remarks to YouCat, Pope Benedict XVI also cited the 40 years of poor catechesis as an issue for our generation. The existing adults do not know how to catechize their children.

The media in general wants to destroy the Church. Because this same chruch reminds everyone what they need to change in their lives to be saved. Most people want to continue living with: birth control, divorce/remarriage, gay sex, abortion, adultry, etc. The Church asks for change in return for eternal life.

Why are so many in the masses ignorant then? Two reasons. Some want to remain ignorant to protect their sinful lifestyle. Others want to minimize the church to promote more people to choose the sinful lifestyle.

AMEN TO THAT! You know it’s bad when confirmation classes are taught using preschool level materials.

since we are not born with knowledge of Gods existence.
But we are born with the desire to know God’s existence.

Furthermore, atheists have the lowest retention rate. This means that, of all children raised by their parents to believe in atheism (or, perhaps more correctly not believe in theism), 70% of them sought a God-believing religion.

God does not permit it. He just shows mercy. Still, sin is as much as a problem if not more since the fall. But I advise not to test God and his Mercy. Only a fool would.

You said it!!! 👍😃

I actually disagree. The problem lies more in the form of dialect… When a region adopts a national language, there then those people also adopt specific qualities or traits similar to those who originally developed the language, unless that language was somehow united with something greater. It boils down to more of a “harmonics” issue which can vary slightly upon dialects or accents. But if a “great” language, such as Latin were to replace all current languages, it would result in an increased level of honor and righteousness for all those communicating as such. The media in this case, would find that vulgarity is no longer pleasing to their listening audience. Society as a whole, would ultimately conform their consciounces in allignment with that of more “Catholic-like” qualities.

…but I’m referring to Classic Latin specifically as opposed to Vulgar Latin.

The truth about what and the ignorance of what?

God permits all sorts of things. Even this discussion.

Yes, God allowed man to reject His authority, effectively rejecting His godhood, with man’s first act of disobedience at the Fall. From then on man was born without the knowledge of God, as you say, lacking any kind of faith in Him. This, according to our Church’s teachings, constitutes a grave injustice, a breach in the order of the universe so to speak. Man was made to commune with God, and mans’ moral integrity and powers of reasoning are weakened and compromised when God is no longer in control, when friendship with Him is lost, when grace is forfeited.

This vital relationship can only be restored by Gods’ initiative, by grace, which He offered after humankind had spent centuries struggling with a life bereft of it, bereft of Him. His offering of grace was His Son, whose Atonement is meant to reconcile man with God again-so they may commune again, as Jesus did with the Father.

As this happens we’re growing ever more in the knowledge of God; this ignorance of Him is diminished in us. He allowed man to Fall by granting Him the freedom to disobey Him; He doesn’t create evil but allows it for His purposes, intending to bring a greater good out of it in the end.
