Today August 15th , we celebrate the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin, which the Catholics around the world observe it as a major feast day, commonly celebrated on August 15. It was proclaimed by Pope Puis XII, on November 1, 1950, that Mary was taken to heaven in body and soul.
Because of her sinlessness, Mary never experienced physical death. Instead she was raised bodily in the presence of Christ the king where she now functions as queen of Heaven. The assumption of Mary was not recorded in the bible but, Mother Mary died in presence of all the Apostles. Her tomb was opened, upon the request of St.Thomas was found empty, where from the Apostles concluded the body was taken up to heaven.
