Assumption Solemnity

Do I have to go to the Assumption Solemnity this year on the 15th of August as that will be a Saturday and would have to go on the Sunday too although as we normally go to the vigil Mass wouldn’t that be the same Mass?

As much as I like the Assumption Solemnity we will be ravelling home that day so I could cause problems.

In the US the obligation is abrogated if the Assumption falls on a Saturday. That’s not necessarily true in other countries.

I found a liturgical calendar for England and Wales here: liturgyoffice.org.uk/Calendar/Holydays.shtml

It shows the Assumption for 2015 is celebrated on August 16 so perhaps they’ve moved the observance, but you’d need to check further to be sure.
