When does astrology become sinful divination - even when you just read your horoscope for fun and don’t take it seriously? Or if you read your horoscope and plan your day accordingly?

Canon law condemns “consulting horoscopes”- does the former count as consulting or just the latter? Is saying “I’m a (say) Scorpio” divination?

I’m a (say) Scorpio
Why would you say it if you don’t believe it? Or, how can you say it and not take it seriously? Why say it then?

One day you read “for fun” and then slowly in life when the stress comes in instead of having God as a support you will be reading the horoscopes stories and hope for “good fortune”. Horoscopes don’t read the future, they make you to act in a certain way by telling you belong to this or that sign. They are not empowering you but weakening you.

St Augustine of course had something to say on the subject, having studied it himself he decided that it was erroneous.

I don’t see there’s much fun to be had from reading your horoscope, if you don’t credit it why read it.

It’s not compatible with belief in God since it claims to determine your day to day and long term destiny, these things are of course are determined by your own free will and ultimately by God alone.

I certainly wouldn’t subscribe to those items online, because how long until they have written a book in your email inbox?

When someone talks to me asking me my sign, I say what I allegedly have been (according to Birthday) but laugh and say my Catholic approach to life is much closer in accuracy.

We usually laugh and that’s about it.

If someone asks us “what sign we are born under”, we can say “The sign of the Cross!”

When it ceases to be a fun thing you can take or leave and becomes you seriously trying to predict the future, it’s time to step away.

I can’t say I’ve ever consulted my horoscope. But I will have a look at it if I happen to be looking through the paper. It’s usually good for a laugh. I prefer the horoscopes in The Onion (America’s Finest News Source). Good satire is essential to a healthy life. 😀

It is mentioned in the Catechism as grave matter.

Give it up.

Just because something is ‘fun’ doesn’t mean it is okay with God.

If the ouijii board was fun, and used for fun, would that be okay with God? No. Because it is stepping into satan’s territory and even aetheists who use a ouijii board for fun end up needing exorcism from a catholic exorcist.

Want to read empowering words for your day?
Pray the Holy Spirit; ‘Speak Lord your servant is listening,’ then Open the bible at random and read the quote that GOD GIVES YOU!! :).

Many saints did this;
Saint Francis of Assissi received the three mottos for his religious order this way,
St Augustine heard the Child Jesus telling him to pick up a bible and got the words; ‘for the former things have passed away,’ and he instantly left his former sinful life behind,

Read God’s WORD 🙂

Nothing good can come from it. If it’s done for fun, you need to consider if there’s something more worthwhile you could do for recreation.
