I live a tough, tough neighborhood.
Between Wednesday night and Friday night, there were 2 robberies and 3 shootings.
One police officer is dead. One child/teen was shot in the face. Another is in a coma. I don’t know yet which one is a young teen mother. I do not know yet who did what and to whom.
And all involved, albeit, indirectly, are known to some at risk teens with whom I am asociated.
These kids aren’t involved with these crimes. They do know some who were involved.
The kids with whom I work are being rehabilitated with job skills, life skills, the whole bit. Most have done time. Most are doing well and wanting to break out of the old mold.
But they will be the first “class” to graduate, and let’s just say they are having some difficulty putting their previous lifestyles behind them. They can’t quite let go of the friends they had previously, thus, there is great temptation. They are trying so diligently to make an honest change to their lives.
I pray for their success;
for those who can’t make the break yet but are striving
for those who see no way out
for those who will not seek a way out
for those who are hurt by them
for those who do the hurting.
A light must be shed for them to see how devastating a life this is for everyone.
I pray that Jesus will be their Light of Peace, their Light of Compassion, their Light of Kindness.
Their Light of Reverence for Life and Love.
God will bless and receive the victims.
I pray God will receive and hear the repentance of the guilty.
Please, I ask for your prayers as well.
God Bless
