At the end of the world when Jesus comes, what happens to people who still need purgatory?

They’ll still need to be purified before they can enter heaven.
I believe that God has some means in mind in order to accomplish this.

I do not see how the coming of our Lord would mean that purgatory would not still be repuired.

Maybe they will get an accelerated version, so to speak, or maybe the experience of time or its equivalent is so different in purgatory that there isn’t really a problem.

Also it would not surprise me, given the persecution of the Church which is generally envisioned as preceding the Second Coming, if most people at the time will either be saints who need very little further purification or else people who will be going to hell.

Great question! I hope I’m around to find out!

My theory is that when Jesus comes again, we won’t need purgatory any more. If we need any purification it can happen in a blink, and then we will be in Heaven forever.

Purgatory is not a “second chance”. And you are right when you say “after death comes judgement”.

Immediately after death, the soul is judged as being destined for Heaven or for Hell. Purgatory is for those who are destined for Heaven, but were not virtuous enough on Earth to merit immediate entry into Heaven. Those who are condemned to Hell may not under any circumstances enter Purgatory.

If one believes the church ( which to me is the people) or someone who lays the law down cannot be argued with ,I have a problem with that,as this for me would be by a mans Law, and if such person would say they have all rights,and if such person were to say do not go to God for forgiveness of sins ,come to me,I have even more of a problem with that.
Plus if any person were to say they are on a level authority with God ,I would not mention what I feel about that. We are all responsible for our own salvation,then the gospel can only be spread by Gods word and reading of. We pray for the Holy Spirit to open our eyes in our reading of his word ,I am not a slave to the Law .Only Gods word of truth, not man’s way of thinking.

When we go to confession, we are confessing to God. The preist acts in persona Christi (in the person of Christ). We are confessing to God through the preist. What law are you talking about?

And Catholics do not believe that any man (except for Jesus, who is God) is on the same level of authority as God.

You’re right. There is no second chance. Anyone guilty of mortal sin (some Bibles translate it “sin unto death”) for which s/he has not been forgiven will end up in Hell. Generally speaking, those not guilty of mortal sin probably end up in Heaven (I’m sure there are plenty of exceptions, but broadly speaking that’s the distinction). The problem lies with people destined for Heaven who are guilty of venial sins (or “sins not unto death”). The Bible says that “nothing impure can enter Heaven,” so those people – destined to Heaven but guilty of venial sins – need to be made clean. We call the process of purging them of their taint “Purgatory.” It isn’t a second chance; it’s a purification process.
Imagine if your kids wanted to bring some people into your house, and you said sure to some of the people but not to the murderers and burglars. As for the friends you were letting in, you’d still want them to wipe their feet. Purgatory is like that.

The Church doesn’t get to decide what’s right and wrong. Right and wrong are from God. Jesus gave His Apostles the ability to forgive sins, but that’s all. As for arguing with them, we take our example from the Bible: Paul told us that he argued with the very first pope, because Peter was observing Jewish dietary restrictions and causing problems with the people. He called Peter out on that. We have no problems arguing with the Pope. We do try to be polite about it, and he is the one who succeeded the keeper of the keys to the kingdom of Heaven, so we owe him a duty to listen obediently and try to understand him; but he has no right whatsoever to run a dictatorship over our lives.

No one but God has God’s authority. The popes do not claim to have God’s authority; they are not equal to God.

That’s absolutely true. We are not slaves to the law. We are, however, subject to God’s Word. We are in complete agreement there.

I believe that is by… Grace alone I am saved ,my grace is sufficient for you…
by the death and resurrection of Jesus,who conquered Sin and Death ,and…anyone who calls upon the name of Jesus even in the last hour will be saved…
of course this does not mean knowingly going through life and just in case call on his name, to be saved ,it comes from the Heart, Those who first believe in their Hearts and trust in the lord. We are to spread the good news which is our duty to do .God sees me through Jesus who interceedes for me, Jesus died for my sins,only once not twice or more,( for me personally) if I accept purgatory ,I personally deny the meaning of why Jesus died for me,any ritual added on to Jesus words, take away for me what Jesus taught ,so I then look into where these teachings come from as I see it add ons, origins,
Laws added on if you like. which I see being taught by man. I ask forgiveness of my sins through jesus ( as the torn curtain reveals our way to God through Jesus,the one and only Living Melchizedek )
I do not understand, looking through different versions of Mary visiting people
( apparitions ? ) when no-one tests these spirits as scripture says to.
Least of all one example I read, lest you wrap yourselves in this cloth to protect you from
( I think it was ) Hell fire? many other instancies I find amazing,…
Jesus is the Way the Truth the Life. No Man comes to God accept through me ,Jesus cannot be persuaded by any being, so you see my amazement.

 Would you explain please what happens at Mass?. Do people really believe in spirits returning to them,when there is a wide divine which cannot be crossed between Hell and Earth, and when these spirits visit ,they may sound and look good why are they not tested as per scripture to see if it is a demon I wonder?
