Here is a very good link that discusses the difference between the way Catholics view baptism and the way others who baptise at an older age see it. There is a significant difference in the views.Well in my church, one is Saved BEFORE baptism… so being saved at Baptism would be … late (for lack of a better word.) While Baptism serves as a symbol of what has already occurred, it is still required by God. Something I think is missed with the talk of things being a symbboll is that just because something is symbolic dosn’t stop God from responding to/being present in these things.
