I understand that most here are Latin Rite. Are all discussions of the beliefs/practices other churches in communion with Rome not welcome here? For instance, in the Eastern Churches the couple does not administer the sacrament of matrimony to each other. It seems to relegate to a specific forum is making Eastern Churches less Catholic than the Roman Church.
Some certainly seem to feel that all discussion that involves Eastern Catholic theology and practice should remain on the Eastern Catholic subforum, but I believe that bringing our practices and theology into the discussions here serve to enhance and expand the understanding and awareness that we are a part of a universal church. As long as we are respectful of one another, why can we not benefit from learning about traditions other than our own?

I don’t think that’s it at all. But be aware when asking or answering questions that most will refer to Catholic rites and customs in the Latin Rite/Roman Rite; if you are relating an Eastern Church rite or custom, it would probably help to clarify that as well to get the right responses and answers. That might be why there is a specific forum, as well as the fact that most that participate (not all, just most) on this forum are in the US, and of those, most are Latin/Roman rite. I never have once felt that by having its own forum, it was ‘relegated’ or ‘less than’. This question referred to the Latin/Roman rite, and was answered as such; Father David clarified his answer to the Latin/Roman rite. I imagine that some people that followed the Eastern Church were getting lost in a larger forum, and the other forum towards more specifics for the Eastern Church was created. Also, new Catholics or those exploring might be confused by numerous ‘rites’ in one forum. Not to mention…you’ve probably seen the ‘bickering’ within the Latin rite here on this forum between those that prefer the Traditional Latin Mass or the Novus Ordo Mass, so I can imagine the differences of opinions that could arise in other cases.

What do you mean that Eastern doesn’t have the bride and groom ‘administer’ the Sacrament of Marriage to each other?
