How much liturgical abuse has to occur before the mass being abused becomes invalid? Does the consecration have to be significantly changed, or do other abuses affect it as well?

The matter and form of the Consecration must be correct. That is, the correct words, the correct matter–bread and wine. Other abuses don’t affect validity.

To clarify, the words of Consecration (“this is my body,” “this is my blood”) must be correct. Incorrect words in any or all of the other prayers will not render the Mass invalid.

Its sorta like I was once taught about venial sin. They never aggregate to form a mortal sin. Unlike coins collecting to form a dollar. However a long string of venial sins can weaken ones resolve to not eventually commit that big one. As was pointed out above there are minor abuses and major abuses but only certain abuses invalidate a Mass.

So does changing “disciples” to “friends” affect the validity?
