At what point is it gluttony?

I understand that gluttony is unrestrained use of food and drink. But what if someone plans to put a limit to the amount of food he eats, but that limit is a large amount? Is it gluttony if a person eats when he is already full?

How much does a person actually have to eat in order for it to be gluttony?

You know when you eat and get to that point where you are no longer hungry.

After that, its gluttony.

In Christ.

I recommend the audio series by Marcellino D’Ambrosio called the Seven Deadly Sins. He goes through each sin in detail telling what they are, what they are not and how to avoid them.

On the subject of gluttony he says that the sin is when the pleasure you get from food or drink becomes more important to you than the good of others. An example he gave was if you were invited to someone’s house for dinner and they prepared a dish that you did not like and instead of eating what you don’t like, you demand that you be given something else that you do like. You have put you own pleasure above the feelings of your host(ess) and thereby commit the sin of gluttony.

-Unless your at your in-laws for Thanksgiving dinner and your MIL keeps insisting you put more food on your plate. 😛
