Atheism confession worthy?

I have been an atheist/agnostic/irreligious for some time now. Is being so (or having been so) a sin that is worth confessing to a priest?

If you don’t believe the priest has the power to forgive the sin (an atheist would logically not believe the existence of sin) what would be the point? Now, if you want to come back to fatih, and want to confess that you need God, and that you were wrong for your rejection of the faith, then by all means, go to confession.

Yes, if you are returning to the Catholic faith and are returning to confession, the sin to confess is apostasy from the Catholic Faith. It would make sense to also tell how long you were in a state of apostasy.
 
You identify as Catholic? :confused:

If you are baptised Catholic and are heading back the other two have answered your question. If you are asking a general question, the thief on the cross saw Paradise that day, anything is possible but I wouldn’t count on it.

If that has caused you to commit the Mortal Sin of missing Mass on Sundays, or any other, then certainly.

It’s considered along the lines of doubting the creator; in other words a form of blasphemy, without getting too legalistic concering Church doctrine; the catechism, and the bible it’s a moral sin, so yes it’s confession worthy.

Why can’t we answer the question, which is objective and requires an objective answer?
 
Sorry if I did not make it clear. I am a committed Catholic now (After some time adrift) and am more than ready to confess my sin of apostasy.

I really dislike atheism/agnostocism.
