how do you know whether or not I was ever religious; and if I was whether or not I had experiences I attributed to god?
I think what she means is that you relegate our experiences as nothing more than delusions now that you’re an atheist. Heck, I bet if I told you I saw an angel, you would think me crazy?

or smoking those funny cigarettes; you are Canadian after all 🙂

based on the protestant work ethic. 👍
oh … OK? You admire protestants now
You were there helping out when the twin towers fell, no? You went to Iraq and I assume you saw things that were done in the name of religion that must have completely turned you off, correct? Moreover, I don’t think you were an atheist during the war, it was after you left and went to school that you lost your faith?
hmmm … trying to psychoanalyze me? It’s too funny … the people who believe in flying angels and talking snakes think I’m crazy because I disagree (I’m cracking up right now, but maybe cause I have tomorrow off & I’m sipping a couple drinkies).

Tu es un americain qui me donne des migraines. 😃
I understood Americans and migraines (I guess that’s enough to get the picture). Heck, we provide practically your entire economy. We might give you migraines, but we also give you the money to afford Excedrin:D

It was to prove a point.

Hmmm . . . . I was right.

about what? You think having a few drinks is poor behavior … golly I’d hate to be you:eek:

You remind me of my devout Catholic mom, who I love to death (but could probably tell the story of her last three decades in a single paragraph).

The U.S. should consider itself blessed that we’re their neighbors. And yes, you are correct those words stood for american and migraines (as for the Excedrin you’ll be needing that if you keep drinking more of those jack and cokes).😃

I wasn’t refering to the drinks and you know it.

I think I would like your mom. What is she like? I’m supposing she doesn’t mince her words if she can state in so few sentences the story of the last three decades of her life. Although I have to admit I’m not really like that. I’m kinda more dramatic when telling stories.

yeah but you to have some stories to tell … we get one shot at the apple (and that’s all she wrote). You can place your hope in ancient stories if you want to … I choose not to. For me this is it; and I want it to be as adventurous and productive as possible.

duly noted … but I have a supply of Excedrin readily at hand 👍

but it’s cool that you love Canada (I can think of many worse places to love). I like Canada too … and loving your country; that’s something I can relate to.

Oh I see so because I’m not “worldly” (euphemism) I haven’t any stories to tell? I find your remark rather insulting. Do you want to know my life story Francis?

P.S. My story is still continuing . . . .

OH MY GOSH … I didn’t mean to be insulting (you guys are so sensitive)

Well, you were so I can’t understand your incredulity at the notion that I’m insulted. You insinuated that I’m not adventurous (hmmm I wonder why you would think this?) and/or productive. I basically have no stories to tell. And I am not being overly sensititive I’m being astute in my analysis of your statement. It’s funny though how the conversation turned on me when we were talking about your animosity towards religion. And I am right Francis your experiences with religious extremism is the reason why you think the way you do about all religions.

P.S. I’m not angry with you though. 🙂

So lemme get this straight…when other say something just the slightest bit off kilter about you, you are all over them, but you are quite free with your accusations…shoe’s on the other foot now, eh?

:rolleyes::rotfl::rotfl:

He knows things about me that you do not. So in light of that information he was attempting to say that I’m not “adventurous”. And it’s not an accusation to tell someone that the info they use is propagandic in nature, I’ve said as much to two other posters one of which was Francis (humble in doubt). I wasn’t trying to discredit you but the information you were using.

how do you know whether or not I was ever religious; and if I was whether or not I had experiences I attributed to god?
Because by your very explanation and grammar, you treat the Infinite Omnipresent, all powerful Almighty God with contempt. How else is one to interpret what you say.

You may well have had experiences, but by the way you describe yourself, you have contempt for God.

I do not mind if you have contempt for me. You may insult me, mock me, offend me, I am mere mortal, you merely give me the opportunity of spiritual advancement by forgiving you. But to speak contemptiously of Him Whose Holy Name is SO HOLY that we are unworthy of uttering it, yet in Christ, we dare to call Him Father. Of Him you speak that reveals what you really think and what you really believe.

You attribute to 'psychological illusion# those physical events that others have felt but which you have not. How do you attribute to ‘mental’ those things which were physical?

Does rather suggest you are clutching at straws.

How can you dismiss experiences about which you know nothing?

How can you dismiss as dilusional those things which others have felt, seen, heard and touched?

What if a scientist says ‘such and such is real’ but you cannot grasp it, do you say ‘ah but that is delusional!’ I think that maybe if that is the case, you need to look again at quantum mechanics.

I doubt very much you have ever had any experiences of Almighty God, much less so tangible ‘real time’ live events. I guess that you were once a believer but lost it rather than surrendered it ‘in the words of Scripture: to those that have not, even what they have will be taken away!’ You have lost and now you are angry with God and want to pick fight with everyone else.

Your loss is YOUR CHOSING. All you have to do is to confess your sin and you will be reconciled and you too will begin to live and learn and experience. But I suspect you will not do that as you are just too arrogant.

Go on, prove me wrong!

Blessings and peace.

How can I treat something I don’t believe exists with contempt? That’s a logically fallacious statement.

Does it matter why I think as I do (btw I wouldn’t say my experiences with religious extremism is solely responsible for my beliefs … although I imagine it’s partly responsible). I’ve seen the light … whatever the reasons were seem pretty irrelevant at this point. You believe its relevant because you think it’s abnormal not to believe in flying angels and talking snakes. Yet if you professed a belief in such things outside the purview of an accepted religion, you’d probably be tossed in a rubber room. So whose beliefs are really more rational?
