Let’s translate this into everyday terms. If atheists would only be willing to indulge in our favorite pastime of cherry-picking, if only they would accept that “A” is sometimes “A” (when it suits our needs), and some other times it is “B” (when it is embarrassing), then they would see a lot less “errors” and “contradictions”. No kidding. 🙂

Whenever a mathematician tells an anecdote, you must either (a) immediately take it literally or else you’re a hypocrite engaging in doublethink, or (b) throw out every single accomplishment and theory of said mathematician on the grounds that he’s inconsistent.

Because the only other option here is that sometimes people speak literally and sometimes figuratively, and obviously that can’t be the case, because then you wouldn’t have such a convenient excuse to not investigate whether or not Judeo-Christianity may have truth in it.

Well if the world ends in 2012. ill give mayans a big pat on the back. until then i see nothing great about what they have done.
Aside from the fact that their development and knowledge of mathematics, astronomy, physical cosmology, and calendrics was the most advanced in the ancient world and remained unparalleled in any other culture for over 1,000 years? Just to put this in perspective; the margin of error between the Mayan calculations and the atomic clock is only a fraction of a percent and they could accurately predict astronomical positions of celestial bodies thousands of years into the future.
