It’s always interesting how this sort of thing never seems to happen at a mosque, temple or synagogue.

I know of one person who is Jewish and is also a “militant athiest” (his words). He says his rabbi is good with it.

Firing an atheist/agnostic minister on the basis of religion/irreligion would be discrimination… this is Canada duh! Discrimination wouldn’t be allowed especially if the government funds this church.

Bart Erhman is an excellent professor and extremely well qualified for his post.
He graduated from Wheaton College, Moody Bible Institute, and has a Ph.D. and Masters of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary.
Have you been to any of his classes? I have, and he’s a brilliant teacher with a wealth of knowledge. He’s considered one of the top New Testament and Christian scholars of the day.
And he’s written dozens of books and papers delving into these subjects.
How is it “lame” to have him teach Religious Studies?

He’s not a self-avowed Atheist…he’s agnostic, he has said this over and over. Where do you see him “avowing” he’s an Atheist?

He’s not a “determined debunker” and has no desire to de-convert anyone, as he often says during his lectures.

He is a historian, that is his focus. .

Agree totally. He is an excellent historian and scholar. I have heard him on many occasions and have read his books. It is disturbing to me to read the comments about his character and his work.
