Atheist Sister

Hello,
I have an older sister who is 16 and has for about half a year now been rejecting all possibilities of the existence of God and the truthfulness of the Catholic Church. I know that beliefs people have in their childhoods usually carry on into their adulthood, so how might I be able to convince her to even consider the possibility of God? My Mother gives her plenty of opportunities, but she ignore them all. Thanks in advance! God Bless!
 
I’d advise a different approach. Just love your sister. Be the Christian example you would want your sister to see without making an issue out of it. Many younger atheists get a lot of very pushy attention from well-meaning relatives and friends, but that’s not really helpful in the long-run. When your sister wants to talk about it, I’m sure she will. Until then, you’re better off as a relative she can trust to talk to without fear of judgement.
 
Praying to the Holy Spirit to give your sister guidance & direction back to the Church.
 
How old are you? Your age will have a lot in determining how to handle your sister.

I agree with the poster that said to just be a good example and treat like a Christian treats others.

Does you mom force her to go to mass? Honestly, I don’t mean to patronize but when I hear of a 16 year old that grew up in a Catholic family say she is an atheist, I often just attribute it to teenage rebellion.

Now, if your sister is still like that when she is 25, then I would be more concerned

Well said. My sister is an atheist as well and this is the a approach I try to use.
