I always wondered what an atheist megachurch look like? 😃 Secularism/atheism and hostility to religion is on the rise ladies and gentlemen. Religion has always been a part of American government and public life. The atheists resent ANY religion except their own. And activist atheists do practice a religion.

While ā€œnontheists,ā€ as the author of the article kept calling atheists, certainly have the freedom to not believe, I cannot understand their overweaning need to keep any mention of religion out of the public forum. Their attitude isn’t reasonable and is highly intolerant. No one has put a gun to their backs and demanded they believe anything, after all. I really don’t understand how they think they have suffered.

ā€œI have absolutely no problem with anyone believing differently than I believe, as long as they don’t impose their religion on me or my government,ā€ says Ms. Brown, a former Nevada state senator.
And yet her organization wants to impose its values on the nation by lobbying for an override of the veto of embryonic stem cell research.

I want to agree with Nicolas Kristof that
ā€œWe’ve suffered enough from religious intolerance that the last thing the world needs is irreligious intolerance.ā€
but I am afraid that some struggle over values is inevitable.

I say let them challenge the religious right and let me laugh when I see them fail.

I’m afraid it’s impossible for people to really believe in something and not try to impose their belief on other people.

Well, if you really to know want go here:

It is the atheist megachurch in legos.

I’ve familiarized myself with athiests, it seems those who are strong in their beliefs either take the far right or the far left when it comes to economics. For those who just don’t think about theology at all, seem to be the most moral and I have the ability to relate to. As for the far left and the far right, it is difficult because they just don’t have a concept of human love. Everything is mechanical. I was read from a far left lefist that he didn’t believe in charity! He really believed it would be fairer if the government provided everything. Of course being thathe was an artist he would have the freedom to do whatever he wanted, but I wouldn’t be free to alms in how I choose.

Newsflash: most of the nation supports embryonic stem cell research.

Its been my expeience that atheist political veiws vary from person to person just like everyone elses

I am sure most would give a morally derived reason. So whats the difference between the religious right’s morally derived reasons which could have been influenced by religion, and morally derived reasons by others?

Most of the nations been told all kinds of nonsense about ESCs. Doesn’t mean squat.

It’s nice to know, though, that so many Parkinson’s sufferers would plunk down a payment on the Iron Maiden of Jƶƶ if they thought it’d make them better.

Atheists challenge is not a fair fight. They come unarmed to the duel. Atheists have no standing in the dialogue.of citizens.By their own choise they have removed themselves from any common source or thread of western or eastern civilization. all of wich is based on theism explicitly. They cast themselves out of the family of Man and his common shared experience. Why should I care about the sound of the wind? Athiesists are like a falling tree in the forest. They reject the very basis of communion with their fellow men, they have no common meaning nor share any common values with their fellow men.

Why should you care? Because as lacking in substance as atheism may be, it is still very seductive. It absolves one of accountability! Thus, you may not give any credence to the opinions of an atheist, but they are an increasingly vocal minority, and their proselytizing must be viewed as a real threat. They don’t need to make more atheists to succeed (although they are doing so); they only need to put a relativist dent in the common morality.

Furthermore, out of charity, we cannot simply brush them aside as lost causes. We have to strive to bring them back into the ā€œfamily of Manā€.

Peace,
Dante

I agree with you,Dante. My comments were directed to the ā€œhardcoreā€ atheists. In my experience most atheists are not serious people. They espouse atheism as a means by which they can have their cake and eat it too.All to often it is a convienient handle for some form of hedonism,or some other form of self-indulgence.It is nearly impossible to have a serious exchange of views with them.I meant nothing uncharitable about my remarks.

Article is from Christian Scientist Monitor.

I’ve heard of Humanists organizations(Humanist Manifesto) because they put in data in favor of emergency contraception in a number of hearings at the state level.

After researching on these forums I read the
Christian Scientist Monitor is not even a Christian.
I wonder if they still have those Christian Science Reading Rooms through out the cities.

But the religuous right sometimes needs to be challenged.
The problems is the I’m right and religious people despite their politicals ideas are nuts stance. Is a divisive one. Sadly seen to be the favorite of people like Dorkins.
And militant atheists seem to be either libertarians (nor God or the Ceasar), or socialists (God is dead, long live the Ceasar!).
The former says, human charity is nonessential. The latter says, the Ceasar can do better charity, with other peoples money.
But people had their own reasons to believe and to disbelieve in God. The problem are what they use to replace it. Either themselves or the Ceasar.

We do not prefer the word ā€œCaesar;ā€ instead we prefer to call it a nanny state. It sounds gentler and kinder, doesn’t it?

Or as St, Nieztche said:
ā€œthe New Idolā€ or the ā€œColdest of all Cold Mostersā€.
