My first thought was that it was similar to the anarchy symbol.BUT did the creator of this pendant read classic literature? The Scarlet Letter by Hawthorne tells the story of a young woman who wears the scarlet “A” as the sign of an adulturere and the letter then creates a non-physical barrier between her and society.
Why would members of the Athiests belief choose to wear a letter that classicly symbolizes seperation from society?
Would love to hear your thoughts!
I guess because I see it around town in graffiti more than I see women wearing scarlet letters.

Some atheists have ceremonies that try to mirror religious ceremonies, like naming ceremonies instead of baptisms. To me it proves that they are just creating their own religion, as opposed to their claim that they are neutral and so should get to decide what religious elements are allowed in public and which are not. It also seems to me that after atheists remove God from their lives, then they feel empty and need to create some sort of spiritual dimension to their lives. See, for example, Naming ceremonies for non-believers.Hmm Atheists have group meetings weekly, they have their prophets (Dawkins, Hitchens, Harris) they spend their time “de-evangelizing” and now they have a symbol…hmm and they still don’t consider themselves religion.![]()
