No. It has limited your thoughts. Agnosticism is a claim that we have no knowledge when in fact we do. You need to keep looking.
Agnosticism is the honoring of the possibility that a god exists.

I personally find it highly unlikely, and, for some strange reason, this conversation is making me move closer and closer to Atheism. :ehh:

You think I simply accept the hows without researching the whys? You don’t know me very well, do you?
Highly unlikely? Nice joke. There isn’t any reason to believe that.
If you deny God, a sufficient alternate explanation is required. What is yours?
Human behavior, similarities between religions, and even literature. The Bible definitely played a part in my near disbelief, also: content, style, differences in both testaments.

Oh, I found the closest I could get to Truth, but, boy, was it ugly! But, I’ve learned to deal with it and make the best of it, and, now, it has set me free! 🙂
Hi Blade and Blood, I see by your profile you are a former Catholic (and by the way, you are also very pretty:D), and now agnostic. I am a former atheist. Have you ever read “There Is A God” by former atheist Antony Flew? It’s a very well written and well done book. It may help your doubt for the existence of God.

P.S. Mr. Flew did not come to believe in God because of any spiritual or special revelation, rather, by reason. It’s quite interesting.

Ontological deals with the nature of existence and reality. If something is an ontological necessity, that means it must exist. There is no question about it.
Well, I’ll hand that to you. Some people really do need an entity beyond explanation in order to live on and cope with stressful situations. But, I couldn’t tell you if these entities exist.

Gnosis is the Greek word for knowledge. A indicates no. Ism refers to an ideology. So Agnosticism means literally “no knowledge ideology”.

If you want to limit yourself by becoming an Atheist, that is your decision. I’m just trying to have intellectual discourse. Nothing wrong with pressing one’s intelligence. Its how we sharpen our minds.

Uh… thank you. 😊

I’m afraid the next book on my reading list is Mere Christianity. sigh I’ve gotta be fair. 🤷

What? I don’t mind the talk. 😉

That is because the Bible is not one book, written by one man, but a library of books written by many men over a course of 1500 years (I think). Of course there is going to be differences in content and style. And of course there are similarities in many religions. Because of that causes me to think more highly for the existence of God. I believe the complete and absolute Truth is within Catholicism, but other religions also hold a bit of truth as well, some more so than others.

I’ll catch you guys, later. My eyes hurts. 😛

Ironically Yours, Blade and Blood

If Anthony Flew can do it, so can you. He was one of the greatest atheists of the 20th century. He is a perfect example that God can be found through reason. From there, the journey only intensifies.

Yup. It is a library. The Bible proclaims a similar message throughout its entire history. It is a cohesive work, that, when taken together, forms something greater than any of its individual books.

I don’t know if you’d consider him an Atheist anymore. Didn’t he go Deist?

Yeah. Hence the words “**was **one of”.
He may be a Deist, but at least he found God, however flawed his knowledge may be. It is a large step to come from a belief that there is no God to a belief that there is one. He has my utmost respect.

TO ALL ATHEISTS HERE:

I now realize that pride is the most effective way to block out God so that one doesn’t see him at all. If you remain an atheist, you would have to believe that all the intricate, detailed, complex information contained in DNA comes out of nowhere and nothing. But you must also see how that idea does not make sense. Do you look at billboards which contain much simpler information than DNA and think that wind and erosion created them? That wouldn’t be rational. You must be very discomforted as an atheist.
Catholics could handle anything you throw at them. Their responses reflect an eminently reasonable worldview that you should keep asking yourself, HOW IS IS THAT CATHOLICS HAVE SO MUCH OF THIS ALL FIGURED OUT?
By being part of the One, Holy, Catholic church, there is a palable connection with other Catholics. Jesus Christ.

Thankfully, I’m more of a “Christopher Hitchens” type of girl: In the long run, I don’t mind religion or the belief in God if it helps you sleep at night. 🙂 But if you start contemplating a stunt of Andrea Yates, we’re gonna have to put our foot down. :sad_yes:

:ehh: Not really. I felt very uncomfortable being Catholic.

As for DNA, I’d much rather take the hard way out by learning the biological information, as opposed to taking the easy way out in giving a masked version of “I don’t know.”

Then again, I’ve never really been the “Biology” kind of person. That’s just me. 🤷

Belief in God doesn’t just help me sleep at night, it actually allows me to keep my sanity.
Just studying the beliefs of Atheism has almost driven me insane. They just don’t seem logically coherent. :sad_yes:

Andrea Yates did a terrible thing. She deserved to be punished for her blatant injustice.
