No, I’m serious.Sure…![]()
I respect facts a lot more than feelings.

What, dare I ask, is so attractive about oblivion?“I’d rather die than go to Heaven.”
~William Murderface, Metalocalypse
…That is my answer to that.(That show is so awesome.
)
Death is death, to me. I wouldn’t want a life after death. Being in the state of the unborn is alright with me. :yup:What, dare I ask, is so attractive about oblivion?
No, no, no, that isn’t what I meant. What makes oblivion preferable to eternal bliss?Death is death, to me. I wouldn’t want a life after death. Being in the state of the unborn is alright with me. :yup:
I’m thinking you mean “unconcieved” rather than “unborn”. There is a difference, and sometimes a very violent difference.Death is death, to me. I wouldn’t want a life after death. Being in the state of the unborn is alright with me. :yup:
To me, oblivion is eternal bliss. No, no, no, that isn’t what I meant. What makes oblivion preferable to eternal bliss?
To me, oblivion is eternal bliss.
Exactly! After I die, I would not want to remain “alive” or whatever you call it. I don’t want to just exist; I want closure, I guess you can call.!!!
Oblivion is a state of nonexistence. How could you say that it is blissful, when you wouldn’t even be around to experience it?
You actually desire self-destruction? Seriously?! I’m sorry to say, but that comes off as blatant pessimism. Besides, nonexistence wouldn’t bring closure, it would bring…nonexistence.Exactly! After I die, I would not want to remain “alive” or whatever you call it. I don’t want to just exist; I want closure, I guess you can call. But, since I have never died
, I don’t know what comes after death.
I can only hope for nothing.
I’m existing, now, and I’m perfectly satisfied with how it’s going so far. The only optimism I have is for my memory to carry on, maybe through my writing. :yup: I have tons of poems and shorts stories. You actually desire self-destruction? Seriously?! I’m sorry to say, but that comes off as blatant pessimism. Besides, nonexistence wouldn’t bring closure, it would bring…nonexistence.
I think what you’re looking for is just peace. The peace of absolutely nothing. If you go to Heaven wanting peace and nothingness, chances are you will get what you want.Exactly! After I die, I would not want to remain “alive” or whatever you call it. I don’t want to just exist; I want closure, I guess you can call. But, since I have never died

See, if you became nonexistent, so would your short stories and poems. Any memory or photograph becomes that as well. There would be nothing for you to carry on because any trace of you would be nonexistent, as you yourself would be. Nonexistance means exactly that - no traces of existence… ever.I’m existing, now, and I’m perfectly satisfied with how it’s going so far. So, it’s not complete self-destruction.
How would you know your legacy would carry on if you do not exist? You could just become one of the countless lost in the annals of history.I’m existing, now, and I’m perfectly satisfied with how it’s going so far. It is painfully obvious that we live in a natural world, in a natural universe that is completely void of any supernatural Deity. So, why don’t you believe in a god?
To you, maybe. I see evidence of the divine all around. It is painfully obvious that we live in a natural world, in a natural universe that is completely void of any supernatural Deity.
I was a Roman Catholic until my early 30’s, and no matter how much people around here don’t want to believe this, I was a devout Catholic for nearly the last 6 years., HOW IS IS THAT CATHOLICS HAVE SO MUCH OF THIS ALL FIGURED OUT?
By being part of the One, Holy, Catholic church, there is a palable connection with other Catholics. Jesus Christ.
No really, think about it. If you became “nonexistant” all of a sudden, then every trace of you would cease to exist. Oh wait, I’m not thinking in purely physical terms, I forgot. You’re thinking in human terms, a purely phyical concept. I guess I can see your point if you didn’t believe we have spirits or souls.sigh
I’m talking about after death. After I have lived my life, published books, posted poems on my blog, etc. they will be the only thing left. If I were to die now, would all of these posts in this entire forum–typed and submitted by me before death-- would they just disappear? No, they wouldn’t. :ehh:
Folly. While I respect Twain’s stories, he is way out of line with this one.“I do not fear death. I had been dead for billions and billions of years before I was born, and had not suffered the slightest inconvenience from it.” - Mark Twain
