Like, WOW!!!

It’s one of the things I’ve wanted to do since moving to Canada. I attended at the Ukrainian Catholic parish of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Calgary. Beautiful church. Just a minor quibble, there were a few people kneeling during the Anaphora. I guess it’s a little Latinization that needs a bit of weeding out. But most others stood.

Now, can any Canadians out there help as to where I can purchase the Divine Liturgy books for use in Canada? There’s a nice PDF at Metropolitan Cantor Institute but it uses a different (revised?) translation.

Thanks much.

God bless you in the joy and inspiration you feel. May He keep you always close to Himself!

Kneeling is still done in Ukraine. They don’t have a problem with it so you shouldn’t either. You will find the oldest of Baba’s still kneeling whether it’s indoors or outdoors, on grass or in the mud…:byzsoc:

You could try www.yevshan.com for books.

Thank you Patchunky. I came across a Canadian publication on the site you mentioned, “The Divine Liturgy: An Anthology for Worship.” Would you recommend this one?

How about other Ukrainian Catholic Canadians out there? Anyone familiar with this publication? At first glance it looks good.

We go to Liturgy weekdays with our homeschool group. The Bishop (the Most Reverend John Michael Botean) is going to be here November 2nd at 11:00 AM and the boys are so excited about serving at this special Divine Liturgy.

Shlom lekh,

That’s very exciting! I’ve been wanting to attend a Romanian Byzantine Divine Liturgy. Would you be willing to ask His Grace if they are planning on setting up any missions further South? I would love to help to set one up in my area in Virginia. My area seems to be attracting a lot of Eastern Christianity. There are 2 Byzantine Orthodox missions and an Oriental Orthodox mission. We need some more Eastern Catholics in my area. 👍

Please let us know how it goes. Be sure to take pictures if you’re able!

Alloho minokhoun,
Andrew

Yup!

Glory be to Jesus Christ!

Dear porthos, very pleased to hear your experience was positive.

The Anthology is hands down the best English music and text source for the Divine Liturgy in the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. Patriarch +Lubomyr has recommended its use worldwide for English-language liturgical celebrations. Three of the five cantors who collaborated on its compilation were Canadian (Frs. John Sianchuk, Roman and Peter Galadza).

It is a gem and has much more than just the Liturgical texts - it has daily prayers, the Little Hours, preparation for Communion/Postcommunion prayers, propers throughout the year, etc. etc. I am a Ukrainian Greek Catholic deacon and use it all of the time. Definitely worth the money. There is also an accompanying CD with the music if that is of interest. Z’Bohom

… the faithful who attend Orthodox Churches in Transcarpathia (Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriachate) still kneel. FYI

While training the eight young boys (yes 8 the 9th was already trained:) ) to serve the Liturgy, the subject of vocations and missions came up. Father Paul said that if a couple of these boys would become priests then they would be able to have missions in the southern states. 😃 Father knows that some of the boys have talked about this possibility.😃

The Eastern Catholics have much to give to the Catholic Church as a whole.👍
