I should know better then to take part in a debate “women only”, but hey, I am me, and I am often in trouble. So, a brief, let us hope, “statement”. Yes, to compare a wedding with a “baby shower” (actually, I have seen on TV a few, but really don’t know what it is. It is not common in Europe I suppose, and in Finland, never.) is far fetched. But that was the best I did think of. I did some thinking earlier and I came up with one thought. This is a Catholic forum, so, those who post here are bound to be “good” Catholics, or people searching for something, and of course, those who just want to pick a fight or make a point. Well, that is OK, and we have good moderators. So, most Catholics posting here are different from the “average” Catholic, like me. I mean, I sin, I am far from perfect and I rely on my Brown Scapular to survive Purgatory. I do pray each day, and say the Rosary, and I read The Bible morning and evening, but I am still “average”. That put me in a different corner. Like if I would have friends living in sin nothing would bother me to attend their wedding. They are my friends, and I am ready to enjoy their joyful day, like I did with my daughter who is a atheist but did marry in a (Lutherian) Church because she wanted a “Church-wedding”. (And my atheist son is living in “sin” as my step-daughter did before she married.) Well, this is not as brief as I wanted, sorry. I am a Catholic, I have a Crusifix on almost every wall in my flat and two statues of Our Blessed Virgin, I am very religius, but I also know my limits. I can not “force” my kids to “see the light” or make them believe, that is up to them. I do pray for them, but that is all I can do. They respect my life and I do the same with their lifes. But finally to my point. I live on, trying to be nice to everyone, and I have so few friends that I can count them with the fingers on one hand, so I take good care of the friendships. I can not attend Mass, (but one priest come once a month to hear my confession and give me Communion) and 99% of my social contacts is “dog-friends”, people who walk their dogs when I walk mine, and we do walk muchs each day. But the point, and I hope I will not offend anyone, I truly hope. I don’t look around searching for what is sin. I try not to sin, but I do sin. I don’t try to be more then I am. I knew God before I knew He was called God, and I love Him very much, but if I see a good looking woman I do look at her. I don’t cover my eyes if there is a “sex-scene” on TV, I cuss if something goes wrong. To define me, I am a devoted Catholic who don’t cut of friends if they sin, I suppose I should not have any connections to my kids, but I am just not like that. I live on, I love and I give all I can to others, I reckon I am “normal”, but I do think all of you who do so much for The Church, and living a life that is more then God require I guess, are just great. You give so much more, and I know you will get much much more then I ever will, but I can be only “me”. God did create me to be “me”. This thread have give me much. Finally I understand why I feel so bad, I am not a “good” Catholic, I obey The Church, but only because I know that it is what God want me to. In my own way I do Gods will, and when I stumble, I turn my eyes toward Him, asking for help and guidance, but I know I can never be what people consider a “good” Catholic. This was not a “brief” comment, but I had to write this. It help me look further and now I understand why I don’t see sin where ever I turn my head. I am not good enough, I am average. I hope it is enough.
