Yes and No.

If you prefer, for clarity:

Yes.
No.
Hmm. The AU (as it was) RC parish of the Good Shepherd was formed by a portion of those Anglicans who left TEC around 1978-1979, in central SC. Another portion of them formed my Continuing Anglican parish. We always thought of ourselves as sort of sister parishes. We also saw the problem. We differed on the solution.

Ignoring Contarini because he disagrees with you is your loss. I’ve been disagreeing with him for around 10 years. He was the 2nd person who responded to the first post I ever made on the net, anywhere, and he disagreed with me then. He has improved marginally over the years, but he still disagrees with me. And I still disagree with him. And learn from him, too.
Well said, GKC. Several years ago, I too was told, on this forum, to “grow up”. It serves no purpose but to antagonize, even if that was not the intent of the person posting. How are we to have productive debates without at least trying to be cordial?

Think Columbia SC.
Ring any bells?

Precisely the parish of which I speak. On Calhoun Street, near my lawyer’s office, across from the Governor’s mansion. I attended the last TLM I attended there, back when it was still the local indult parish. It took its name from the Anglo-Catholic parish nearby, also Good Shepherd, from which most of the founding members had come, under Fr. Gatlin’s leadership. Founding members also came from other local Episcopal parishes, notably Trinity. A portion of those who thus split from ECUSA after the St. Louis convention in 1978 eventually took the AU path and became the RC Church of the Good Shepherd, among the first 5 such AU parishes formed. Others formed my Continuing Anglican parish.

I usually adopt a slighty different approach. I’m impervious to insults.Comes with extreme age, and a military career.

It seems that whenever I am called a “heretic,” “Henry VIII worshiper,” “schismatic” or any other junk that people say about me, any response makes me the bad guy. If that’s how I’m going to be treated around here, I’ll just find a board where people can be adults instead of children who cry “heretic” at every possible opportunity.

You should see what they’ve called me, over the years.

I’m terribly sorry if you’ve been insulted on this site.
Now you’re looking for a new Church and a new site?
That’s a double-whammy.

Might it be worth your while to look into the Apologetics forums?
There are usually very few insults flying there.

blazerdave -

Also, perhaps look into the threads in the Spirituality group?
(Found under “Catholic Living” forums.)

Thank you.

I can recall posts with no encouraging words I’ve made, but still, thanks.

This is a perfect example:

You’re telling someone, “Hey, don’t feel like the Lone Ranger.”
Also you’re very quick with a witty word, as needed, to lighten the mood.

PS - ahem - and then there’s your humilty too!

I think my humility is my most admirable quality.

The thing that speaks volumes, however, is this: If I think that a lesbian can be a bishop, I am apparently orthodox - at least to Edwin and to KJS. If I think that lesbian bishops are contrary to Scripture and Tradition, I am a heretic and must be strongly opposed and denounced.

That says all we need to know about Episcopal hierarchy and about Edwin who has chosen to label me a heretic despite lacking any knowledge of my theological positions.
I wasn’t aware that Anglicans use the word “heretic”–much, if at all. They disagree, often quite openly, but I don’t think that they use this word much.

“Heretic” appears to be a Catholic word.

I suspect that the term is used here rhetorically. But, if a case of Donatism were involved, a knowledgeable Anglican would recognize it as a classical heresy.

If you can find a knowledgeable Anglican.

Here to learn rather than teach, so please excuse my ignorance on these things :)…but if those who support these innovative practices (like lesbian ordination) and those who oppose them can find ways to call the other side heretical, who gives the final word? It seems that being Anglican (especially in the Anglican Communion) would be maddening, since no one ever has a decisive last word on anything. There seems to be a great deal of animosity, bitterness, and confusion over who constitutes the “real” Anglicans.
