Attending Jehovah's Witness funeral

What is the Church’s teaching on attending a Jehovah’s Witness funeral? Can a Catholic attend? And if so, was there a time when the Church forbade it? References to official documents would be appreciated.

I attended a JW funeral a few months ago for an in-law. It consisted of some scripture reading from their translation, some preaching, and a prayer or two. To sit in the back and observe and not “enter in” to their prayer or theology was not at all problematic for my family or I. I suspect almost no one noticed. We said our own prayers for the departed silently and privately.

Thanks for the replies. There will be no communion, so no worries there. But does anyone know of official church documents on this, and did things change at some point?

JWs only do commumon once a year, so your chance of running into a service is very small.
