It’s always better to do more than the absolute minimum, but the law is the law.

That’s very judgemental of people you don’t even know!!

Mass is required on every Holy Day of Obligation.
Receiving Communion is required once a year.

Its not for you to decide how often someone should receive nor should you make disparaging remarks about anyone who receives only once a year.

Wouldn’t you prefer the person who has not properly confessed his sins to refrain from holy communion Zundrah? Wouldn’t that be better?

Remember also, frequent reception of holy communion is not a thing that was practiced at all times in all places. Sometimes it was impractical or impossible to do, and people were under different circumstances for confession also. Public confession would be a bit hard to take wouldn’t it? Have sympathy for those who had to endure that in the times when that was the common practice.

Anyway, I was obviously talking about those who CHOOSE not to go, not those who can’t… but if it pleases you to babble on anyway, please be my guest. I am listening for you.

I guess strawberry jam, that yes, it is best that they refrain… But it is sad also to see people holding back from beautiful life changing homilies.
 
I think the reality is that Catholics who are serious about their faith will be there every week, or nearly so. You could make the same comment about Protestants, and I suppose the Orthodox.

Those who aren’t serious will only turn up at Easter, Christmas, weddings and funerals, if they turn up at all.

God knows their real attitude. I think we should leave the judgment to Him. I think a lot of nominal Christians are in for a shock, personally. It was Christ who said He’d rather that people be cold than luke warm. I think He’s got more respect for a hardline atheist, or someone who feels genuinely bitter or angry at Him, than He has for a blase Christian.
