I would like to know if I am sinning by attending. I would seriously like to know this and I won’t dismiss anyone who says yes
From the statement made to the faithful by Pittsburgh’s bishop on the occasion of an SSPX chapel opening here, the implication is “yes”.

Isn’t the Church in question the one the FSSPX bought through a third party which had bought it from the diocese? I could see where that would make the bishop angry enough.

I don’t know if that would make a bishop that angry. The art gallery that was there for a while wasn’t really cutting it, and there are only a limited number of uses for a church building.

Further, Pittsburgh has a lot of historic preservationist types who object to tearing it down and building from the ground up. In Lawrenceville, they are objecting to a group that wants to raze the former Polish church on 44th St. for housing.

I understand your preference of the TLM and reticence of the words that recently came from the Vatican and can be confusing…

I have the same thinking in mind, even if I attend a normal parish…

My knowledege is not updated, but from what I known:
  • the excommunication of bishop have been raised
  • the faithfull people have never been excommunicated
  • the situation of the fraternity is still irregular
  • the fspx priests’ are not allowed to perform sacraments of mariage. And perhaps not baptism and confirmation (not sure). So the people who receive them are at risk of having receive nothing.
  • I think we can receive without canonical problem eucharist (to be verify), so perhaps going to mass here is not intrasically sinfull.
But if we have territorial alternative, the best is to attend an other TLM mass. On the contrary case, see with the diocese for advise, and if a dispensation is “permitted”.
